Sent back the forms and a letter asking for the direct debit transfer form and recieved an apology for getting the wrong form but instead of the DD transfer form they sent a bloody current account transfer form instead! Useless!
There is no such thing as a "DD transfer form". Also, for this Halifax offer, one of the conditions is2. Use the Halifax switching service to transfer your active bank account, including credits and debits, from another bank to your Halifax account.
The only way you can meet that condition is if you authorise them to transfer your existing current account. You also need to authorise them to close your old current account.0 -

I have already filled out the current account transfer form online. The exact one they have sent me. In the first letter I recieved from them it said please fill out the enclosed direct debit transfer form, which wasnt enclosed. There was an internal use form instead. I asked or the missing form to be sent to me.
I assume this is their switching service. Just a poor one!0 -

That is quite possible.
The likely reason, though, that they would also like a form filled in by you is that the form has your signature. I am pretty sure your old bank wouldn't accept a request from the new bank to close your account without seeing your signature on that request.
I would certainly get mad if any bank closed one of my accounts on the request of a 3rd party without having ascertained that I do indeed wish the account to be closed.0 -

The signature form was in the first letter they sent me which I completed and returned. I think ill just fill out the form again and take it into a branch so they can sort it. Don't want to waste money on a phone call!
It was much easier when I switched accounts the other way a couple years ago. From halifax -> santander I was quite impressed with it then.0 -
I was half interested in this being an existing customer with reward current accounts.
However today an in branch experience reminded me of just how dire the customer service is so I'll pass on this one.
You'd think after all this time the Bank of Scotland/Halifax identity crisis would be sorted out :rotfl:
Pity...0 -

Oh great I have to go into the branch to sort out my shambolic online switching application! I hope my local branch is better than yours!0 -
It's like most things. Once setup things are usually fine...
But...
Took two years to change address...
Charged interest on my daughters tax free savings account, took several years to sort out...
Tried and failed several times to change a current account into joint names...
All my accounts were orig halifax but are now branded BOS yet I login to Halifax???
You can imagine the fun and games when you have to call them :rotfl:
They have the cheek to ask what my branch is???
Still its worth the free fiversbut not a full switch
PS Went to a halifax branch ATM to withdraw a tenner. Entered PIN etc yet no cash appeared... Went into the branch to inform them and the response was 'yeah we know it's faulty' yet no sign to warn! Total muppets...0 -
Well went into the branch today with my I'd documents and apparently my application hasn't even been initiated and they could find no record of it! The lady was very helpful though and did the application again and my switch is going ahead now and got my account opened straight away with my £100 in it!
The branch redeemed the dire online service!0 -
Applied online last week and haven't heard anything since.0

I had a letter after about a week. I was expecting an email confirmation but they obviously don't do that. 3 weeks later my application wasnt going anyway so went into the branch who told me it hasn't even been initiated and wasn't on their system! Had to start the process over again! Hopefully this time around will go more smoothly.
If it wasnt for the £5 per month I would have cancelled the application and gone to first direct for the £125!0
