My main bank account is with Halifax. If I setup a few standing orders with my old NatWest account and switch would I get the £100?

I have one direct debit on my santander account (but its for a credit card i rarely use) - does this count as a direct debit

I will set up a standing order on it as well just to add in something extra!

I have the reward account - manually transferring money into the halifax from a different account which my wages go into.

Will I be eligible for the £100 if I transfer the santander account to Halifax, and am willing to close the account?

Don't know how I managed to miss this thread, although I've not been looking at the forums that often recently. Thanks to Der53 for the original post.

bristolleedsfan has a success story, would be interested to hear how others have got on.
  • I read on their site that existing accounts do not qualify for a bonus if transferring,

I setup 2 s/o on a old NatWest account and I received my £100 the day after I completed the Halifax form.
My main bank acc is with Halifax. just waiting a few weeks to see if they deduct it again and then im transferring to Santander 123. Saves me another £120 a year with £45 tcb ;)

    I've made a terrible mistake!

Applied to move from santander to halifax for the £100. But forgot that I need to use the santander travel insurance in September for a holiday. So I need the santander account open then! How long does the transfer take? I'm hopeing 4 weeks+?

When you say "main bank account", do you mean Halifax already received your salary by BACS Direct Credit and paid your bills by DD?

And one other question...did you have just the one Halifax account or several?

Reason for all the questions is that I have 4 Reward accounts (one being my main account, ie salary in and DDs paid) and don't want to risk the £180 a year I get from the 3 that I shouldn't really have, should they decide to look further into my account (ab)use! :o

Turns out my mistake is not so terrible after all. Only going to cost me £6 for a few days travel insurance.
