I wonder what happens when the kids have their 5th birthday?

Also wonder why don't Halifax have the T&Cs of these offers online? Surely they aren't concerned that people would discuss the pros and cons on the internet?

The life insurance is only free for the first year. The cover would still be in place irrespective of how old the child is going forward. The bank has probably set a cut off of 5 year old child as part of the promotion. It is obvious they are targetting young families who are starting out in life or have just had children and need their finances reviewing. It is most likely that a families budget is more tight during the first 5 yrs of a new born child as both parents may well not be working full time and have to pay out for nursery fees etc. So imagine the strain that would put on a young family if something awful was to happen at that point in their life.

To get a fiver on Halifax reward, there must be at least 2 active DDs in the account.

Does it mean that people who are currently getting a fiver from their Halifax reward account is not eligible ?

What is automatic credit actually how they are different with standing order ?

    thanks

I would advise people with multiple Reward accounts to think very carefully before they apply for the £100 offer. The Branches seem to be on a mission to downgrade all bar one Reward account if they get you in front of them - - even though there are no T&Cs or other written notification from Halifax that actually states that existing multiples will be downgraded.

They are almost certainly not going to give you the £100 offer if you insist on keeping your multiple Reward accounts.

Often non advertised.non promoted branch offers such as this without publicised written T+C allow possible scope for flexibility from branch to branch.

I think you are right. There's no sign of these offers in one of my local Halifax Branches, but the staff know about them.

Apparently you need an appointment to get more details. I don't know whether you would get written T&Cs during the appointment but I am quite allergic to offers that I can't evaluate in peace and quiet, without a salesperson breathing down my neck.

Has anyone tried this and has it worked?

    Any details on the T&Cs?

    Thanks!

Is this just speculation or has it actually happened to you - or anyone? I'd be interested to know - thanks!
