After a year of having a blue i have found most places I shop take Amex. Major supermarkets, garages and hotels take it as do a number of restaurants and internet retailers. For those times when I can't use amex, there is always the conran visa.

Not just Toby Carvery, but the InnKeepers chain of hotels (part of same group) take Amex too AND their chip and pin machine worked with my chip & pin amex (first time ever!!)

Why is that? You have to be over 18 to have a credit card, so you should be able to with it as you please.
