  • I have a surveyor coming out on Monday to check the eligibility of the house for a free boiler. The company say they must also fir under floor insulation as part of the new ECO3 regs to qualify for funding from the government. However I have wooden laminate flooring in all rooms downstairs.

Has anyone had experience of this and if so am I liable for the repairs or do the suppliers leave the house as they find it?

    Cheers

    Which company is this?
  • Does anyone have a view on whether applying to all eco schemes at once is a good or bad idea? to compare what's offered as with some schemes it's free and others you have to pay something towards it.

I am on PIP and that plus child benefit is my sole income, but I’m married and my husband works.
Is it the usual need to have a household income of less than £16k to be eligible?

Hello, my mother just applied for a boiler grant also. A man came round to inspect and she does qualify for the grant. She was also told that she would be getting the boiler with under floor heating(which she does not want). We asked if she could just have the boiler etc and not the floor heating, her whole contribution to all the work was to of been £570, they said no, you must have both jobs done, so I cancelled the whole thing for her, she just needed a new boiler and thought great I qualify for one. She is a pensioner on disability.
This is who she was dealing with impactbuildingandrenewables.co.uk

Does anybody know of a decent reputable company(West Midlands) that offers these deals government grants for new boilers and for free installation for pensioners, she just needed her old boiler replacing, and it seems she does qualify under the grant scheme then.

    Hi

I hope it's OK to ask direct - we applied for the EON ECO scheme around October/November. Had the appointment cancelled and rebooked time after time, however finally had the assessment last Wednesday and the quote come through on the 9th.

I've accepted online and got a random default time for a call back to take the payment.

I called and was told it would be another 8-10 weeks for my information to be checked!

We are currently without proper working hot water, and I receive carer's allowance for our daughter who receives DLA. I've also got another child in the house.

Is there anyone who I can contact to try and get this sped up, or are these normal timescales?

Hello slh4283 and I'm sorry you've had several appointments cancelled.

Work under the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme is looked after by a specialist ring-fenced team. Please speak directly to these advisors (contact details are on our website). They'll be happy to look at your application to see if any improvement on the installation date can be made.

The team are available from 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday.

    Thanks slh4283.

  • Boiler grants, We qualify but Boiler doesn't.

Good afternoon. We recently moved to a new house, we realised the boiler is old over 30 years but was told it works, we knew it would need replacing at some point, the gas was turned off at the time of inspection and survey so we could not check it. We moved in and found out actually it does not work and we have just paid out £500 to fix it, we had to save up to pay for it. It now does work but the parts are very hard to get hold of now and also the water tank in the loft needs moving and replacing as it is leaking mildly.
We qualify for all the boilers grants under income and disability, but I have just found out our boiler also needs to be broken or faulty for us to qualify, of which it is now not, we really needed to fix it and keep warm due to disabled son (24 care) , if we hadn't have fixed it, we would have qualified and probably have been on a long list, spending a fortune on electric heaters we can barely afford to run.
Can anyone advise? I'm really hoping nothing else goes wrong until it is at least summer. Thank you for any help.
