  • Hi everyone

My boiler died a horrible death this week. I've filled out a form online with newboilergrant.co.uk then boilergrants.org.uk.

New Boiler Grant already got back to me saying that we qualify but will need to contribute £176. The woman I spoke to Kate says once I send a screenshot of UC entitlement, she will forward details on to a company called Fusion Energy?
How do I check the legitimacy of these companies? I've tweeted Ofgem for guidance but no reply.

I'm with EDF and notice they do the same scheme but the contribution is higher at £240. Can't ring until Monday as they're not open today.

Any advice greatly appreciated please. Any one who has had dealings with either 3 companies experiences welcome. Trust pilot isn't filling ne with confidence right now.

Fusion Energy (https://fusionenergy.co/) appears to be a legit company - but what they have to do with grants is beyond me
I would have started by looking at what your own energy supplier offers - rather than "newboilergrants"

I may be overcautious - but I am always wary of companies who use two different, siimilar addresses (ie newboilergrant.co.uk & boilergrants.org.uk)

    Thank you for your reply.

I have emergency cover, however my boiler is 1 month overdue service so not covered. It's making a horrible banging noise and sounds like it will explode. I panicked at the time I just searched replacement boilers and filled the forms. When I got the call back, I started doing more research (make sure I'm not handing over money I don't have) and discovered that my energy supplier does the scheme.

They only open Monday to Friday so have no option but to wait until then.

Have you heard about Boiler Grant's (I thought New Boiler Grant's were the same)? Or how to check the legitimacy of said companies?
  • I thought the same thing, which is why I'm alot more sceptical now....

Try companies house to see whether the company is legit - though thats no proof that they are a good company - it simply confirms that they exist !

OK - It appears to come under an umbrella company called LOVELEADS - https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/08804726/filing-history
The companys MD (A young man named Samuel Thomas Price) has his fingers in more than one pie and has limited success
    AVOID !!
Remember that you can use any supplier for these grants - you are NOT limited to EDF...
Ofgem are set up for the benefit of the suppliers - not the customers !
  • Hello,

I think my boiler has just died on me. I've turned the whole thing off as it keeps cutting out and the pressure gauge is going up and down and causing the heater to make loud noises. it sounds like it's going to blow up. I also noticed the pilot is orange at the top and I read that this may be dangerous :(

I have checked online and the E-On website says that I am eligible for a new boiler under their ECO scheme. Does anybody know how long the process will take?

My son suffers from asthma and my house doesn't retain much heat when the boiler is working so I'm worried the cold will cause problems for him. I don't really have anywhere to stay that is near his school but if it is going to take months then I may need to think of something quick.

    Any advice is much appreciated!

    Thanks

  • Hi,

Yes, I applied yesterday. Have you done it? Do you know how long it takes to get a boiler installed if everything goes through?

Hello nikkiniks and thank you for your application for a boiler replacement under the ECO scheme.

These applications are handled by a specialist team who look to contact customers within 7-10 working days after receiving applications.

Each application is assessed individually and they'll talk to you about your situation to see if you're eligible for funding under the scheme.

Hope all goes well with your application nikkiniks.
