Not much to tell really.... put a few more pence in the OD pot - still determined not to count it:rotfl:
Had a massive falling out with OH last night.... his wages adjustment went in on Monday morning (£360) so I transferred the £210 I needed to cover the last of the bill, leaving him with £150..... checked online banking last night, and hes BLOWN THE LOT ON BEER/FAGS!!!   What makes it worse is a) he was working Monday night and half of Tues night, so he's done it in a night and a half:mad: b) he rolled in at 3am *demanding* I give him back the £210 becasue its *his* money  (Also partly your bills!) and c) he's supposed to have given up smoking
And he wonders why I never leave him with much money!?!
On a plus note, I (and I mean just me!) have got my cc savings over the £2k mark:D and I checked online banking this morning, and had £91 Quidco money go into my account, so that'll go across too:D
So, not all bad. Lets see what the day brings

Bit of a backward step since last post.... realsied I've been paying 10.9% on my OD, while my savings are only making 5.5%, so I've transferred £500 from CC savings acc to clear OD.... but I now have to save another £500 to pay of CC by Oct. Got three challenges on the go, change jar, olympics, and Lucy's pay by Xmas - this is the biggie for me, because I REALLY want ALL the debt gone by Xmas:eek: - so far I'm up to £35.70/£2861.57:o
Got lots of baby clothes to eBay/car boot (depending on weather), some Amazon stuff still on the go, and I'm setting myself up ready to do some MBing:eek: - just got to save enough money to get a good start going.... scary stuff!

Hi Sarah
I've just stumbled upon your thread - and thought I'd drop a line (or two).
My husband is positively useless where money is concerned, he once blew £500 in two days on absolutely NOTHING:mad:  ! Now I control his money but it doesn't stop them feeling resentful does it? One thing I've learnt is to have a bit of money aside just to blow on whatever (if we want to:D )
Good luck with the challenges.DFW Nerd Club #545 Dealing With Our Debtnever attribute anything to malice which can be adequately explained by stupidity, [paranoia or ignorance] - ZTD&[cat]

My wife and I have been together for 5 years now and married for 1 year. After we had been together for a year or so and moved in to a rented place together we got a joint account that both of our salaries get paid into and all the bills etc come out of. We think of all the money in that account as "our" money, even though I earn more than her I don't think that I am entitled to spend more or that I have more say in our finances than her. In fact she is the whiz when it comes to budgeting and I am pretty useless.
When we first got together we both had some debts, hers worse than mine, and we got a consolidation loan to clear them off but ended up running up more, mainly due to my wife's spending but I was guilty also. Having sold our house a few months ago to relocate we paid off every single debt and are now buying a 4 bed house with the rest of the proceeds of the house. It feels SO good to be debt free and have closed down all the credit cards and store cards.
I don't think it would have been possible to become debt free or stay debt free if we hadn't have worked as a team to do it. We are both commited to being debt free now and only buy something if we have the money to do so, we have learnt together how to control our finances and budget etc.
Good luck on becoming debt free but kick your husbands' !!!!!! and get them onside otherwise it is going to be a LONG old haul.

Thanx Pointer... I am hoping to have the same affect on my OH.... he is slowly coming round to the idea of DFW, and when he does, then I can give him more 'responsibility' with money. I have control over most things, and yes he is resentful just like Cat's DH, but unfortunately because of the way he is with money atm, thats how we have to be.
After last pay day, I transferred all the money I needed for bils, plus an extra £50 for my spends (for the month), leaving him all the 'spare' money - about £250.... needless to say within a week it had gone, and now I am subsidising him from my spends:mad: This is only 1 week after he blew £150 in 3 nights:mad:
We have approx £100 to last us until the 20th:eek: Thats for everything, all the food shopping, baby formula etc - all bills are covered tho.
His attitude atm is that he is the only one working and contribuuting to the household (!!!!!!??? Financially maybe, only because I'm on Mat leave, and he does not lift a finger in this house!) therefore he has the right to spend money as he sees fit! He threw his toys out of his cot last night because I'd cooked Toad in the Hole and he decided that I was going to pay £20 for a chinese takeaway - I think not! Needless to say he went to work hungry:D
Anyways, that's enough about him, I love him but he drives me insane! Gotta count my change for Jaxx and wander to the shop to get the Sunday paper - my one luxury this week!

I do discuss money with DH, and we'll debate the pros / cons of any spend. Biggest compromise we made; he wanted a takeaway each week, I said monthly. Compromised to once a fortnight!
I was initially really annoyed that I have to act like his mother / jailer / accountant etc especially when he has a sulk. Now though I just remind him that he has two options; either walk away, we get divorced, sell the house and clear the debts OR work together to pay it off ASAP! He's still here!DFW Nerd Club #545 Dealing With Our Debtnever attribute anything to malice which can be adequately explained by stupidity, [paranoia or ignorance] - ZTD&[cat]

See, this is what happens when I go shopping on my own.... I spent £38.52, inc baby formula, £5's worth of washing tablets and £10's worth of meat on offer. If I hadn't have bought the tablets or the meat, it would have been £24 - that'll counteract last weeks bill of £81:eek:
And I managed to get two more £2s as well as the 48p for Change Jar Challenge - had to break a £10 so OH could take some cash to work. No way is he getting his hands on my £10, so I asked the girl at the till to change it and she gave me 2 x £2 in the change. That helps with two challenges.... roll on the 14th when the Olympics begins again:T

fantastic going with the shopping Sarah
I love it when it comes to a low amount - strange sense of satisfaction, isn't it?!
