  • I was duped too, on Boxing Day no less. What is the best course of action as I am NOT happy about being shafted for an £85 form. Contacted Watchdog, any other advice?

Not really a scam is it? It quite clearly says on the website what the product is. It's then upto the user to decide if they want to spend money or not.

seems to me like you work for them. this webiste is very misleading.

THEY HAVE JUST RECENTLY CHANGED THE WHOLE LAYOUT OF THE WEBSITE TOO.

It's called 'buyers remorse'. You bought in haste - but we've all Ben there at times. What you do is learn from your mistake... The chances of you doing the same thing again will be slim, but why you think a a TV programme will be able to get your money back eludes me.

I must be going nuts. I thought I was savvy as hell when it came to paying anything online....apparently not

My son was sorting out his insurance for the first time and put me down as a named driver. His Insurance company wanted a copy of my licence (old paper type) pronto ...which I couldnt find.In the panic of it all I must have filled out a licence renewal with these con merchants and have been charged £60 for a replacement licence (DVLA normally £20).

I would add that im on loads of medication after major surgery so this probably impaired my judgement.

As far as I can see they have done nothing else but forward the application to DVLA . There was nothing to say the fee was £60 when booking as I had read on the DVLA site it was £20, the first I knew was checking my bank statement.

When I think back I had a few tabs open, like you do, swapping backwards and forwards in a hurry and filled out what I thought was the DVLA form.....doh! Never usually click on the google ad links at the top of the page - must be the meds.:)

Be careful out there, cant see small claims realistically working but tempted to give it a shot for the hell of it.

Feel like a right muppet..even the bank statement says WWW..DVLA....

    As per your other thread:

    You are lucky.
You may not think so but you used a website that actually has a refund policy.
Not all web sites offering similar 'services' offer refunds.
    Cancellation/Refund Policy

You may cancel your application for our service at any time up until we have processed your application and completed our service.
If you cancel before we have processed your application, we will issue a full refund less £8.00 administration fee. If the application has been processed we will refund our service fee less £8.00 administration charge.
If you wish to exercise your right to cancel, please contact us in writing (email is best), as follows:

We are more than happy to issue a refund, but we can only issue refunds direct to your bank account. Please supply the following information:

    Bank Account Number
    Sort Code
    Order ID

This information MUST be sent by filling the form: Click here to fill the Contact Us - Form
The remittance from dvla-driving-licence.co.uk will be credited to your bank account within 48-72 hours of receipt of your request.

So you got back exactly what they said they would refund.

It sounds like they are tardy about timescales for processing refunds as I think you waited for much longer than 3 days from the date of your refund request.

Maybe they are inundated with refund requests.

    Beware!
These websites are not just for driving licences.

    Take care when applying for:
    passports
    EHIC
    ESTA
    driving tests
    submitting tax returns

And I'm sure that list will grow as these companies realise that it can make (immoral (imho) but usually legal) money from people.
