  • Just had a look on their website and they appear to be charging £90 for a form to change your address. Which is free to change to start with.
  • I'm surpisded people still fall for this.

Infact, the people who do, deserve it.

That's a warm and interesting perspective harvey...anyone that falls victim to a scam deserves it? So do you apply some sort of stupidity scale or is just anyone falling victim to any scam. When you post comments questioning consumers level of intellect then perhaps you need to make sure that your comments are checked for accuracy. Maybe, like yourself, some consumers have issues with adult literacy.
  • Update. I'm getting a lot of personal emails from consumers who have been scammed by Caveat Viator. I can't comment on every case so please follow the advice on this thread before contacting me.

Harvey's in a bad mood today I think.

This isn't the first grumpy useless post he's made this afternoon.

Who has rattled his cage I wonder?

Surely you must have this wrong at least for Stephen Graham Oliver? On company registration documents obtained from companies house he describes his occupation as 'gentleman.'
  • You may also find the response I received from the advertising standards authority useful. This information confirms that their website was misleading customers.

My apologies for the delay responding to you. I can confirm that the complaints referred to sponsored ads and the website promoting a UK driving licence renewal service. The complaint were about whether the sponsored ads misleadingly implied that the website was the official DVLA website, and that it was not clear that consumers could not purchase a licence through the site, but were instead being offered an application checking service.

We were able to close the case informally having received appropriate assurances that the potentially misleading references (e.g. to the DVLA) would be (and had been) amended or removed.

When we informally resolve a case, we do not normally provide details about it beyond an outline of the complaint/s that were received. This is because we wish to encourage advertisers to resolve their cases informally – without incurring the time and resources required for a formal investigation – where we think it’s appropriate.

    I hope this is helpful.
  • Yes, lots do, there are even some official company representatives on this forum who monitor and reply to posts.

Yes but I think you've missed the point a little... perhaps those companies actually have a 'valued reputation' and monitor to improve customer care. Companies like Caveat Viator won't be contributing to the threads to improve customer care. Their monitoring is nothing more than a vain and veiled threat to hopefully prevent the spread of any legitimate information that might harm their business interests.
