I have only had one 6 month lease which was signed when I moved in. I was sent another one but never got round to signing and sending it back. Landlord doesn't really talk to me much and I haven't had any of the usual annual safety checks etc.

And you're not worried anout that but you're worried about mice - better sort out your priorities!

My first thought was post-natal depression too. Kelly, do you think you'd be able to speak to either your GP, health Visitor or midwife (if you're still under midwifery care?) You talk about feeling anxious and crying a lot, this of course could just be the mouse situation, but, it may be that depression is setting in.

Please calm down OP,listen to the others on here,
You are overthinking and making yourself panic,

Yu are a massive, massive giant to these little mice, they are a lot more frightened of you than yu shoud be of them.]

Speak to your landlord and remember your fear will be transferred to your children and they will end up paranoid.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

The mouse might run over the baby, pee on the baby, nibble the baby etc
It's a mouse, not a tiger cub! :rotfl:

Unless this is a long-standing problem, pre-dating the OP's tenancy, I think it is down to the OP to resolve.

Practical solutions have been suggested. They are not difficult, or expensive, and they are effective.

Get a grip and deal with it.

Moving out of a property because for THREE days there have been signs of mice is just ludicrous!

I had a mouse in my last flat. The most irritating thing about it was I could hear it scrabbling around late at night while I was trying to sleep.

Normally I find small fuzzy creatures adorable. When I have work in the morning and they're keeping me awake, however, my thoughts are more in the vein of "I don't care how f*cking cute they are, I'm going to kill every single last one of the squeaky b*stards".

But this is by the by. Aside from making me genocidal, they're virtually harmless. OP: Mice are not going to harm your child, unless they somehow find a way to tickle it to death with their whiskers. Your biggest issue would be droppings and/or eating your food. Traps or poison, both of which are cheap, will sort out the issue quicksharp. So too will calling your council's environmental health department, who may well come and sort the issue out for you.

go online and check if they secured your deposit - it really matters! you may get back 3 x your deposit or just your deposit back - I really feel for you as I have a shonky landlord who couldnt do enough when he was exposed as being not registered as a landlord , when the government helped him and removed the penalty of £5,000 , i cant get hold of anybody. I do feel for you X
