    I agree with others.

Mice are a minor issue. They will NOT hurt your kids.

You need to either calm down, or see a GP for medication to help you relax. This is a very minor issue.

The boiler, the washing machine? That is where you need to concentrate.

Is your partner not supporting you?
If you only had the baby 3 weeks ago, your hormones could be making you more anxious.

    OP never mentioned her partner.

Although I personally love mice, fantastic wee beasties I do very much understand the OPs concern. She has a newborn baby, she is exhausted and stressed and unwanted rodents are very traumatic as they are small and prone to getting everywhere. There may be no risk at all BUT the OP is well within her rights to be very worried and upset.

We had a woodmouse run through our lounge the other day, it fascinated my dogs and I happily picked it up, gave it a stroke and safely put it outside. No worries. But if I had a newborn baby in the room, laying on the floor (as they often do, on their mat) I would have been far more agitated. The mouse might run over the baby, pee on the baby, nibble the baby etc, and I say 'might' as it probably wouldn't but mice do things like that.

Yes the OP should see her doc, get checked for PND etc, also kick the LL up the bum for neglecting their duties but as far as mice are concerned, she has every right to be feart something could happen that may adversely impact on her kids.
There is no shame in not knowing; the shame lies in not finding out.

I have never actually seen a mouse in my house, but until a few years ago, I had a couple of winters where I could hear them running about in my attic in the night. It can be pretty unnerving to hear scurrying in the dead of night, even though they are essentially harmless.

After two winters with little sleep, I purchased a Pestclear 2000 ultrasonic mice and pest repeller, and I have not had any scurrying since. Here is a link a similar product on Amazon:-

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pest-Stop-2000-Ultrasonic-Electromagnetic-Repeller/dp/B000FII400/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1372888909&sr=8-1&keywords=pestclear+2000

They are not particularly cheap (£34), and as you will see from the reviews they do not work for everyone, but it might be worth a try if you do have to stay in this property.

I believe that once plugged in, the device sends a very high pitched signal through all of the wiring in the house, which is painful to mice ears, so they tend to leave the property (although it can take a couple of weeks before they throw in the towel). In my case sadly, this device does not repel spiders, but at least I've not had any more mice.

I don't think that I am suffering from any kind of PND. I am generally very happy when I am not in the property but when I am here, I feel lik I am constantly looking for the mice. I only found out about them 3 days ago and I went into the loft to see if I could see any evidence and there was teeny droppings everywhere!! I am genuinely terrified. My kitchen is in the same room as my living room which makes it even worse.

As long as you don't leave food out and clear up every single crumb any mice around aren't going to find your home terribly attractive. They're wee, sleekit, cowrin, tim'rous beasties after all.

Are you allowed pets in your tenancy? If not a cat may be an idea if you're stuck there for another 5 months. Mine seems fantastic at catching them but sadly in my case she finds them outside and brings their bodies back as a "gift" so on second thoughts that may just add to your stress levels.

I know it's hard not to worry but honestly mice won't hurt you and they're quite cute when you see them up close.
  • It is unpleasant, but not to that extent.

Please, see your GP and Health Visitor, as just having a baby makes you vulnerable to all sorts.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Can you call the council pest control people? they will put traps out for you. Our council had this as a free service till this year, hopefully you wont have to pay anything.
I understand you have a real fear about this, so its no use people telling you get a grip or calm down. I am sure the kids will be fine, just try not to let them seem your fear as they will pick up on it and copy you.
