Sainsburys assistant refuses to serve woman on her phone

Read this, this morning and wonder what other people thought?
I actually think good on the cashier. I think it's really bad manners to be on the phone when someone is serving you.
I always end my call before I'm served as it was one of my pet peeves when I worked.

I was in a queue yesterday where the woman being served was holding a conversation on her phone, she was oblivious to all the disgruntled people and the cashier and carried on her chat while holding up the whole place.. so rude especially to the cashier.#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Last time I was in Sainsburys the checkout staff were having a conversation among themselves. Maybe next time I should insist they stop talking first.
At the checkout I have presented my shopping to the cashier to scan. My input is to bag, and, at the end of the process, to pay. I could manage those quite happily while talking on a phone.0 -

I think that's a fair point, but what's different about these modern dilemmas is that we all agree that your example is rude (albeit still done). What we've yet to do is develop our moral framework to cater for the exponential rise in technology.
This debate's interesting simply because it polarises people; some think it's the height of rudeness to continue your mobile phone conversation whilst being served in a shop, others think it's just modern life."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

That's my local Sainsburys!
Must go there more often.0 -
Interestingly, the survey on the Daily Fail article shows 85% in support of the checkout assistant.
