£100 for a pe kit????? Was it Chanel or something?moomoomama27 wrote: »Yes my DD's last blazer was £46 with school badge! The PE kit was over £100 before starting with the main uniform!!
Ours was green knickers and a yellow t shirt (1 of each) a skirt you made yourself and a optional tracksuit, the lot (minus knickers) lasted you the full 5 years.1,2 & 5p: Christmas day food £9.31

I just checked out the senior school here I hope to send my dd too and its a 96% pass rate and theres no ties or blazers or any of that malarky, just a v neck sweater or cardigan and polo all logod bought form a nearby outlet shop. So I'm quite pleased with that (skirt and pants from wherever) The infants school is ok from supermarkets.
£1,000 uniform or £100 uniform she's still going to be a nobel prize winning vet. Clothes do not maketh the (wo)man.1,2 & 5p: Christmas day food £9.31

My daughters primary school initially took up with a independent supplier that was more expensive than the current tesco one but the quality was SO much better. Mind you, she's had 3 of her school jumpers nicked this year and her plimsoles (just why?) She's only 7 and everything was labelled......
You dont even HAVE to buy the logo jumper I just do because they are now just £6.50 which seems reasonable, but when I send her into school without wearing a jumper IE a warm day, she has a long sleeved blouse and pinafore + coat - I get a snotty letter back or the teacher takes me aside.....the school has underfloor heating and my DD gets hot - she sleeps nekkid in the winter  Dont know why I buy pyjamas!
So I send her in with her jumper on - it gets taken off - it get stolen - rinse and repeat......
I usually buy about 6 blouses, a cardigan, 2 jumpers, 3 pinafores, 1 skirt and 2 pairs of trousers. Then good ol clarks (and phew, her pair last August lasted till now - hope her feet grow in Summer :rotfl: )0 -
His point is they wont you allow to do that.trevorsminted wrote: »You can always put your kid/s to school with cheaper uniform surely your choice!1,2 & 5p: Christmas day food £9.31

On a side note I think uniform full stop for those under 7 is IMO is abit sad.(And I never wore uniform untill I was 11) I was just reading a website for a local preschool, primary and no bright shoes are allowed, I mean no individuallity whatsoever! Seeing a 4 year old trotting off for a full day at school in a drab bland navy uniform makes me feel sad for them. Are we making just work drones for the future who are all conditioned the same? I am thinking so.1,2 & 5p: Christmas day food £9.31

Hi All,
I am not sure this is the right forum but I would like to ask for advice on this if its worth taking up or not.
My kid's school recently turned to an Academy and they are charging extortionate prices for the new uniform
Sweatshirt £6.95
Polo shirt with Badge £5.95
Tie £3.50
School Fleece £15.45
PE T-Shirt £3.95
Book Bag £4.56
PE Bag £3.90
Total £44.26
Sorry I just don't think it's extortionate. My school skirt cost £45 and that was 21 years ago. THAT was extortionate. And it was a grammar school.
Also it's worth considering that you have to pay a lot less in "normal" clothes, being that your child will be in uniform 5 out of 7 days.0 -
I'm French, and did all my schooling there, and I really don't think the lack of a uniform ever hindered any of us. We just wore our own clothes. Just saying!0

that's not expensive, years ago there was a school hat and coat, some schools still have this...... just pay it and stop moaning....ooooohBlackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0
