MSE News: Sky TV customers face 2.5% price hike

My letter states that my sky entertainment/enterinment extra will go up by £1.50!!! I cannot work out why mine is different
Letter? What letter?
I got the 50% discount code through MSE, then got 50% off HD through Quidco, I think. Should be able to cancel in September 2013, I hope, before full price shock kicks in.
Actually, it's a good time to try the Tivo from Virgin.
The last time I had Virgin, Tivo had just come out, and it would have cost money to upgrade. Now it seems to be the standard box, but you have to pay extra for 1TB.
Have they opened up the storage so you can record on an external hard disk through USB yet? This gives Sky/Virgin control over the content, since they can encrypt the files so that you can only play back the files using a Digibox with an active subscription. Unless you can hack the encryption, of course.
Ideally, you want to be able to record onto a home server, so any network enabled device can play the programme, but that would mean you won't pay for Multi-room, so no chance there.0 -
For multi-room users who face the largest increase of nearly 10% on their multi room subscription (plus other increases), a bonus is you will get Sky Anytime Extra for free. This service costs £5 per month for non multi-room subscribers.0

I assume you mean Entertainment Extra. Sky Anytime was the old name for On Demand.
Anyhoo the price for my basic package does not appear to be going up.That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
I currently pay for Entertainment Extra+. Got a letter from SKY informing me I WILL be paying £1.50 more from my August bill.
MSE :money: says the rise is only 50p.
Is there a communication problem or has MSE been given the wrong information from SKY?0 -

We haven't had the letter yet. Our package used to be called the 'Basic Family package', then in 2011, we got a letter saying that it was now going to be called 'Entertainment Extra', but nothing would change.
Ours went up by £1 a month last September from £25 to £26. So, look's like another 50p added on September then.
This is getting ridiculous now. I'll be looking into different packages I think.
What do you get with the basic package now?

Enough for me, I don't want or need the Kids, History and Music channels.
As long as I get Sky Atlantic and F1 I'm happy.
AFAIK the Entertainment with HD pack are not going up.That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
