I had a VIP slot and ordered various t-shirts and shorts in age 7 for my average-sized 6.5yr old, ready for our holiday in Feb, when she'll have just turned 7. Every one of them is too small! They're a nice fit on her little sister who just turned 5 though! What has happened to Next sizes? Kidswear always used to be quite generously sized?!
I totally agree...a few weeks ago, before the sale, I ordered a load of age 3 clothes for my son, thinking he'd need that size as he is 2 and 1/2 yrs. I also added in a few size 4's as they were oos on the smaller size, just in case they fit! I was gutted and somewhat annoyed to have to return them all as they were ALL too small! I mean, even the 4 years sizes???? What the ???? I was treated quite snottily by the middle aged lady who had to deal with the return. I pointed out how small they were and that, as you say normally they are generous, but she still eyed me with suspicion as though I'd just changed my mind deliberately to make her day awkward! There were 26 items to return so yeah I wasn't best pleased myself, and having a full-on toddler as well as a breastfeeding every hour baby as well, I thought it would be the best option to order online and try on in the comfort of our own home...never again! Also, the quality was dreadful on most of the items an the shirts were like pieces of shrunken rag, just awful and not what I have come to expect from Next. Wont be buying from them again in a hurry, maybe an odd outfit or item that takes my fancy in the flesh, in the store!
    :(

Think it's always been the same with kidswear. My daughters 8 and i have to get her age 10. Same everywhere in my experience

Next stuff was always huge. My 5 year old is only just in last year's sale 3-4 tops. In this season he needs 4-5. With my other boys one size down always fit them. This year they need the right size. They haven't grown out of proportion - the clothes are smaller. They still need a size down in Boden which was always comparable in size.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
I found an old coat 3-4 years my eldest daughter had when she was younger which I bought 7 years ago.

I tried it on my younger 5 year old last week and it is big on her. Needless to say my daughter is wearing clothes 7-8 years from Next.

Either the clothes have shrunk or kids are growing bigger these days!!

    PPI Party Pooper
I tend to size up for my daughter - she is in 4-5 now but no way will these fit up to her 5th birthday.
I hate the dual sizing though - I don't really see the point of it.

All the furniture items that are in the sale, seem to have gone back to full price!
  • The furniture was added back into the sale listings last night with some furniture on further reductions too -especially the Hoxton range. All coordinating items still seem to be available at the further reduced prices.
  • There was a big upload earlier this morning. Still a fair bit left :)
  • I'm looking for an item code (6 or 9 digits directory code) for a fairy castle single bedding set, but I don't have the old catalogue. Can you please help me out?

There's been a big update overnight, just ordered the sandals I've been waiting to come back into stock since the sale started!
