Liquids and gels in hand luggage

I only had hand baggage as I was away for just one night but bear in mind the 100ml rule means items totalling 100ml, so you cant take 100ml toothpaste and 100 ml hairspray.
No, the total is 1L = you can take 10 small bottles of 100 ml, theoretically.*
Theoretically, because the 10 would need to be put into that small plastic bag, and I don't think they fit, heheBeing brave is going after your dreams head on0 -
It's a pain but it happens so...
*the rules ONLY apply to hand baggage so no problem with wine/creams etc being in your hold luggage.
*pack everything in your hold luggage. If you must do a last minute lippy/perfume squirt/foundation reapplication, do so before check in then stick the bottles in your check-in luggage.
* if you can't live without perfume for the plane, or you don't want to check anything in at all, ask for a free sample when you next buy a bottle. Those tiny vials are way under 100ml.
*collect free hotel shampoos etc. for your next trip. Alternatively, decant your own shampoo into a little plastic bottle from Superdrug (etc).
*roll-on deodorants are under 100ml.
*security changes from airport to airport re shoes, belts, watches, what can be missed in the bags etc. If you don't want to risk losing it, you've been warned!0 -
Hi All
See the article on how badly and arbitrarily this 100ml rule is actually applied around the world at:

Further information on this topic, you can check out my thread on what happened to me and many other people on liquids in hand luggage. You can find my thread around page 43 last update 24/08/07: Beware Of Taking Liquids In Hand Luggage!!! There's a lot about this problem that we all need to be aware about when travelling...it just doesn't affect us here in the UK, but all throughout Europe and the world I dare say. Anyway, if you need more info check out my thread. Thanx ~ BLUroma0

I think I've got the liquid restrictions sussed now.
Is it ok to take some snacks thru' security to eat in the airport (that's if everything hasn't been eaten before check in
) ?
Also, if there's two of you, can one carry a handbag and the other one piece of cabin luggage?:wave:0 -

Not sure about snacks, can't help there. But for carry on baggage EACH person is allowed ONE bag, it can be anything within the size limits, e.g. one camera bag or one handbag or one piece of cabin luggage. So yes, you could take a handbag and hubby could take a piece of cabin luggage. Or, if your handbag is small you could put that inside a piece of cabin luggage of your own but one person can't take a handbag and cabin luggage, that would count as two pieces.0 -
if the snacks not a liquid the rules don't apply0

Last time I travelled it was a o to the snacks unless they fit into the defined size....so it was a big fat "no" to the litre bottle of water I'd taken with me....0
