Well I haven't read the whole thread so I'm just going to offer my opinion based on the op and my experience as a student and as a parent of a student (soon to be two)
I can't imagine anything more designed and guaranteed to stifle the student experience and remove most of the advantages of a university education than living 'at home' through your student years.
It's a time for growing up and learning independence not clinging to apron strings or, far worse, feeling smothered by misplaced parental overprotection.

What total rubbish.
You should be ashamed of yourself.
If you want your daughter to be dependent on you for ever, say so.
Otherwise support her in her independenceYou can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friend's nose.0 -

What debt? Student loan? It's not debt in the same sense and is going to be 27k (roughly) no matter where she stays.
My lass, at the end of the first year and with little help from us as we can't afford it other than big shops once a semester and picking her up/dropping her off at holidays, has no other debt. She doesn't have an overdraft, she doesn't have a credit card. She has used her grant to pay for her accomodation/food and course needs as well as her mobile phone contract. She hasn't worked a job this year (but is doing agency work during this long holiday and did have prior to leaving for uni) and has still gone out and enjoyed herself without breaking the bank.Spam Reporter Extraordinaire

I am not saying she should leave or she should stay, just that debt, or rather the fear of it, should not be the prioritising factor.Spam Reporter Extraordinaire

tbh Stebiz it's more than abundantly clear you've made up your mind what she should do and I get the impression that you won't be happy until she's 'decided' to stay at home.2014 Target;
