Sky Broadband - Useless!

If you subscribe to that particular Sky package you get broadband included, so you are paying Sky for TV and broadband, free means you pay nothing, I do not have sky nor do I want it, for me to get sky broadband I would have to pay a sky subscription so it is not free.

Well it's all relative isn't it. I've had a Sky TV subscription for years because I want Sky TV and was paying extra for BB with Pipex. This year I cancelled my subs for BB with Pipex and switched to Sky BB when they launched it in my area and I could have had the Base package for nothing, or at least nothing more than what I'd already been paying for years. So compared with what I was paying before, it cost me nothing.
I pay a lot less for my broadband than a sky subscription would cost.

    Good for you.

  • I have been connected to sky broadband for the best part of this year but over the last three months I have been loosing my connection on a nightly basis. Originally it was limited to a ten min period at around eight but recently the time at which the connection is lost has got earlier and the duration has increased (e.g - last night I lost connection at 6:25 and it was unavailable for 1 hr). Once the connection returns it is very slow and highly unreliable until the middle of the next day.

After calling sky support on a number of occasions, where I am continually told to do the same basic things (check cables & restore defaults under internet options) I am no closer to getting any answers from Sky and an solution is nowhere in sight.

Without wishing to fall into the trap of conspiracy theorys, I just think it is a little convenient that all my problems began at the exact time that my monthly payments were reduced from £20 - £5 per month. I also fail to understand how sky are insistant that they have no idea what is wrong with my connection when so many people seem to be having the same problems!

  • Hi Posted earlier with a problem with Sky

Logged official complaint with Otelo regarding level of service and problems with sky taking 3 months to replace the faulty equipment, and the fact they didn't read my letters but i persevered with this and when i emailed sky for the final time before OTELO would take over they phoned me and offered me substantial credit to my account which works out nearly 5 months free sky on my £31 package sweet result:beer:
  • Man, I love ma BT!
It just works. No fuss, no bother.
Stay the heck away from their BT Mobile Fusion: it's the ar*e-end of the devil! Expensive, and difficult to leave: I actually had to get Offcom involved to get that department off my back.

In an aside, I called up Sky to get their Sky+ box on the cheap. I threatened to leave them, and a `Manager` called Andrew told me I couldn't - even if I paid in full for my remaining two months! I said, even the Mafia had easier terms than that. So the upshot is, no cheap Sky+ box, and I'm reading up on who my next TV Satellite provider is going to be; but in the meantime I'm going to miss the Olympics.
Any tips? (But I can't get Virgin cable in my area, unfortunately).
