Sky Broadband - Useless!

Just looked up Primus .... 12 month contract , 8Mb , £50 connection fee and £20.99 a month compare that against my 8Mb £20 connection fee and £5 a month which so far has been perfect, only difference I can see is I have a 40 GB monthly limit and Primus are unlimited but state this ~There aren’t currently any limits to how much information can pass through your broadband connection. However, because Primus works on what’s called the contention system – we do have to manage particular users who might be slowing down the connection for others.
If I ever become unhappy with the Sky service I will go back to UKFSN who provide an excellent service with a 330 GB limit for only £19.99 a month on a monthly contract and no connection fee if migrating.0 -
Hi,
If you are looking for a good wireless try BT - I moved to them from Orange and what a joy! I had one technical issue which was due to my laptop having Vista and the girl just took over my computer remotely and did it all for me - really impressed!:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin0 -
I have only had a couple of connection issues with sky, been with them for 6 months.
The only time I completly LOST IT was when phoning them about a connection issue and the lady on the other end when talking me through logging me into my router (no i'm not that thick, its just the standard crap they do) she told me to log in 'admin' & 'sky' and I just said in passing 'oh I have my own password but i'm logged in' she was absolutly addiment that I 'MUST use the standard log in password' After chatting *read arguing* with the silly moo for 5 or so minutes I told her to get a different job, hung up and phoned back the next day, spoke to someone else and the problem was solved. Incase your bothered they had 'capped' my speed, still don't know why but it ain't happened again!!Problem of the week!
My laptop keeps on telling me it has an ip address conflict with another computer on my network and its driving me mad trying to sort it out!!! Any suggestions PM me please!0 -
I am now also on my second router . According to sky cs (40 mins on the phone only to be told i need a new router). The second router arrived and was working fine for about a week then that also started to disconnect. I have done all things advised in the skyuser forums but all to no avail.
My next stop is to try cs again (tier 3) but this time i will try to save a few pennies and ring from w**k.
I will keep you all updated in this great Sky broadband saga.0 -
Hi I Don't have Sky BB myself but in the Digital Spy web site forum there is a sticky for Sky broadband here with a thread about Sky routers here , it seems that apart from bringing in a new model of router it may also be a firmwear problem. I hope that this can help you as I've found that site to be particularly helpful with other Sky problems.
xxxxI wish that I could be the oldest AND wisest....sadly it's not the latterbut my time will come _party_ wooooh hoooh! Beware!!!!!!!

I have had connection problems over a long period with Sky.
Every night around midnight it was cutting me off for 5-10 minutes. Usually only once, but sometimes a few times and once it did so in the afternoon. It seemed to have started working properly the last week or so, but again tonight cut off for a few minutes without warning. I was thinking it could be a router problem, but then why does it cut me off at virtually exactly the same time every night?
I'm phoning to cancel tomorrow, had enough of this rubbish. Only been with them 6 weeks so no doubt they'll try to refuse to let me cancel but this is costing me a lot of money now for various reasons.
If you're thinking of getting Sky Broadband, don't - it's an absolute joke.0 -
if you go to the sky user forum i think you'll find the good reports far outweigh the bad ones.
they've only been going a few months, for the terrific prices they charge i'd allow a few gremlins. what about established isp's like bt and orange who still get slated?0 -
Have also had massive problems myseld with sky, Installed on the 10th feb and stopped working in a couple of hours, phoned tech and he cut me off re phoned diagnosed faulty router, sent a new one out after 5 calls to chase it up:mad: , still same problem then they decided it was the wireless adapter, again took loads of phone calls and still it didnt come, wrote to customer relations who said they will sort it out recieved another wireless router, finally got my wireless adapter and works fine.
Have written 2 letters of complaint the second appeared to have not even been read and just a bog standard repsonse was issued. There customer service is shocking0
