    Oh, Mrs S. Sorry to hear your having a bad week. I seem to be having a lot of bad days too recently. Good news about your student loan though, your £1000 more forward with that than you thought so you will have extra money in your pay packet sooner too.

    Hoping you have a good weekend to make you feel better x

  • Thanks Peeps. We had a bit of bad news in the family, so its knocked us all a bit :(

    Yes Sammr, I was pleasantly surprised by the student loan. They've asked me to get in touch to set up direct debit payment for the reminder, as if I keep paying through my tax, it will almost certainly mean overpayment.

    Going to check my payslips from April to see how much more has come off, then stick it on a spreadsheet. I was thinking about doing a master debt spreadsheet so I can watch the totals come down each month.... I am a sad excel loving debt free wannabe!

  • So I'm feeling all demotivated with just about everything today :( I am choked up with the cold, which isn't helping, feeling a bit down in general, feeling fed up of work, and completely fed up of having debt looming over me.

    Okay - so now that I have that off my chest, I should feel a bit more positive! This site is seriously like therapy to me, apologies if the above is a bit moany but it helps to just get it out there!!

    I've done my money spreadsheet with the accounts that I am aware of and have balances for (always afraid there are oldies lurking!). Quite tempted to pay off the student loan first, as it has the smallest balance and then use the extra £81 per month to chuck at other debts, but as its such low intereste, I'm thinking maybe I should let it run its course. Will update my signature to include it, as its nearing the end.

    Have brought my own lunch to work today, but have been a bit naughty and bought a can of coke becuase I found a £5 note in my purse... which I should have added to my poor attempt of an overpayment fund.

    I will have to have a look around tonight to see what I can still list for sale, and see if I can get some more funds together for that.

    Ideally we'd like to be debt free by end of 2014 but that may be a bit optimistic.....

    Good Morning Fellow Debt Busters

    Have had a few days of feeling sorry for myself, and not done much debt busting, but am feeling back on it now so hoping to make some more positive steps.

    I sent off an old ipod I found to be recycled, it had a cracked screen (think I had ran it over with the car - oops!) so the best price I could get for it was £5.00. I thought that was okay, so sent it off, and have had an email back saying they'll give me £10 cash or £10.80 Amazon voucher!! :T I've taken the Amazon voucher, and will use that towards something for the kids Christmas. I have a "wishlist" on Amazon, so as I get vouchers, or spare cash, my plan is to just get something off the list.

    Food Shopping Day is today, so I'm trying to think about a menu. Will be heading back to Aldi this week, had to go to Asda last week as I was running out of Quorn supplies for me, and things like savoury rice packs etc. Hubby will also transfer his money to me towards the debts so once I have been shopping the "change" will be added to my rather poor looking total for overpayment.

    The over payment will probably look a bit shallow until my payday when I can boost it. Would also have put away more to that but I am still fretting over the MOT (next week :S) so will see how that goes. I am hoping/praying (tho not religious!) that it passes. Its not an old car really so I just hope it gets through it!

    My other update on here, is that I've had to give up on the 40 things for turning 40 for my hubbys birthday next week, which is a shame. I can't afford it, but I also hadn't mentioned it to anyone, so its no big deal. I got some of the more sentimental items and things he wanted, so the upside of this is, I now have lots of ideas for him for Christmas presents!

    Right, am at work so should really get on with some work so I can argue my way to a payrise!

    Will pop back after my food shop or tomorrow to update my sig.

  • Morning Debt Free Wannabes!

    Just a quick update because I've done the food shopping and have added the "change" to my overpayment total. Food Shopping came in at £59.88 so I have £40.12 change to add to my total, giving me £43.71 :j This is slightly more motivating that £3.59!!

    I have had someone interested in some bedding I was trying to sell on a selling page, so hoping that comes off as that can just be added to it.

    Off to update sig, have a great day!

    Well haven't had the best day, but it also hasn't been the worst!

    Had a slight meltdown at work, am feeling underpaid for my role and qualifications, and yet another person has joined who has less qualifications than me, and is being paid more. Its the third person this year, and I'm totally fed up of it. Unfortunately the meltdown took place in my bosses office, whether that was a good idea or not I don't know, but at least he knows how fed up of it I am. Have applied for two other jobs today which are more money so we'll see if anything comes of them.

    Got my Driving Licence back with my married name on it which is great, because I need it to get the hire car while my car is in the garage for its MOT next week. Hoping that its a good sign, it came back quickly and without hassle, so I hope the MOT goes the same way!

    Have received an email with my Amazon voucher from the recycled ipod so will have a look later and see what I can get for that. It will be something towards christmas presents for the kids more than likely. I'm trying to do christmas proactively this year!

    So we are having a stay at home weekend so I need to acheive some "stuff". My list is as follows:

    * Catch up with washing/ironing
    * Strip all the beds
    * Clean the bathrooms
    * Sort out DD's wardrob
    * Advertise dresses for sale (I have some evening dresses I could get rid of)
    * Wrap up OH's Birthday presents and get his cards

    Think thats enough to keep me going, off to get the first load of washing in.... first of about 6 I think!!

    Have a good weekend,

    Have a good weekend Mrs S.

    Hopefully your Boss will see your POV and can put you on a wage that reflects your qualifications. x

  • Thanks Sammr, I don't know if that will happen. I feel like a bit of a wally after my little chat with my boss, but it is bugging me. I have applied for a few jobs that pay more, but will have to wait and see if anything comes of them. I think I know deep down that if I want to get to where I want to be in life (bigger house with more space, doing more with the kids etc) I will need to leave where I work. They're notorious for not being the greatest payers in the industry.

    On a better note, my list worked wonders for this weekend! See update below:
    [STRIKE]
    * Catch up with washing/ironing
    * Strip all the beds
    * Clean the
    bathrooms
    [/STRIKE]* Sort out DD's wardrobe
    [STRIKE]* Advertise dresses for sale (I have some evening dresses I could get rid
    of)
    * Wrap up OH's Birthday presents and get his cards[/STRIKE]

    Only thing I haven't managed to do was DD's wardrobe, but may still do that later. We have my folks coming for dinner so I'll see what time they arrive and see how my energy levels are when they leave.

    Managed to get 5 different little things for my amazon voucher, which I had to pay 80p towards so am happy with that. Little stocking filler items for the kids mainly.

    Keeping EVERYTHING crossed and positive for the cars MOT on Tuesday... I just really really hope it passes. I'm getting frustrated as I can't really do a budget with my September pay (which I get next Wednesday) until I know if I have to replace money from anywhere which I may need to temporarily borrow for the MOT! :eek:

    Anyway, off to bump up my selling posts and see if there's anything moving.

    Hope everyone is having a good weekend,

  • So just when I thought things were okay-ish, I went to the joint account to pay the childminder, and boom - we're short this week. :(:(:(

    With the MOT tomorrow, I really don't know what I'm going to have left and the mortgage comes off on Thursday, just when OH's pay goes in.

    I'll have to rack my brains and see how I can basically raise £198 before Thursday... even with the best car boot in the world, that wouldn't happen.

    Any suggestions?..... feeling massively demotivated now :(

  • Thought I would update my diary for the past couple of days... its been busy! Not particularly MSE busy, but rushing around busy!

    The car passed its MOT :beer: majorly happy about this! It only cost me £55, and I got the hire car for free so that was a bonus. Will be looking to put away extra money into my car account each month now for the next 6 months or so just to make sure I can afford to change it in the new year.

    With regards to being £198 short for the joint account, I have just about managed to scrape enough together, so will have to replace £100ish from another account but I can live with that.

    Have a few days off so will be mostly at home catching up. I was going to write a To Do List but my brain is getting sleepy... I will probably come back and add to it, but here is the basics:

    * Do a Menu to last til Tuesday
    * Do a shop for said Menu
    * Clean out Fridge
    * Sort out DD's wardrobe (from last list)
    * Clean Floors (Kitchen / living room)
    * Dust Living Room
    * Catch up with washing (don't think I will ever fully catch up!)
    * Hoover Kids Rooms
    * Was down banister
    * Hoover Stairs
    * Wash Windows
    * Do weeding (IF weather permits)

    Think thats enough to last me a week not a few days, but hey ho!

    Right, off to catch up on some more diaries and check emails then its bed time.
