    Groceries: £250/£300
    Fun: £3.70/£100
    Debt paid: £310/£480 (+£72)
    SFD: 11/20

All this talk about healthy lifestyles is making me feel guilty as it's something I really need to focus on but I can never motivate myself enough. I find excuses like "healthy food can be really expensive" when I'm actually in a position to afford it now or "it's time consuming" when it isn't really. We've cut out takeaways (as there are no decent ones near us anymore) but I make a lot of "junk food" at home - home made burgers, pizza etc. Healthier than takeaways/frozen food but... food for thought, hmm!

Anyway, I shall be paying off those CC's later today once Hubby has transferred some money into my account to cover some of it.

    A SFd today too :)

Abundant, well done on facing up to the spends, hiding from it is how we got into debt in the first place.
NSK - sorry to hear about your relatives illnesses, I understand your need to live a healthier lifestyle.

    Daily Telegraph ..Personal Finance today

Politicians have been urged to stop blaming each other for the state of the economy and look for solutions in a bid to encourge people to "open their wallets".

One of Mastercard's top economists told The Daily Telegraph that it was clear households simply do not believe recovery has taken hold, and they are still scarred by the chaos of the credit crunch.
Brits are only spending what they need, spending is still flat and that that is different from what you would have expected to see by now

Why do I find the above statements shocking...national debt is shocking blah blah..personal debt out of control ....Now its ..'start spending..cant afford it so what..go for it !'

Abundant..Yep you spent too much ..did you have a "well I have done really well and now I want too etc"....
BUT..you have identified and want too stop yourself..well done mate..I cannot believe that I am still within my £300..albeit.I have not been out for a good few days !..I am also a ..well if I want it, buy it now ??...
NSK...I am not pleased, so to speak, but to see the team leader having a .."well I need it day"..makes you appear ..ermm must be careful here..:p Like the rest of us occasional splurgers..Great that it annoys you tho':p

A little Background..In November 2010 My immediate family suffered a huge loss to our family group...To say I supported the Sav Blanc wine industry from the four corners for 3 months would have been an understatement....3 months later a kick up the bum from myself took me to the gym..£39 a month was a bargain...cancelled last year as it no longer fitted my lifestyle due to it being an annual only ontract..
    February 2011 Australia 3 months..
    October 2011 Australia 3 Months
    October 2012 Vietnam 1 Month
    November 2012 Australia 6 Months

So for those that know, Australia is a nightmare on the exchange rate and cost of living.. an example a pint of Magners cider in a Bondi bar ..£10..
    Restaurant eating is ££££....Take away Pizza...about £12...

So during the last six months I have ..cleared two overdrafts £1850
Repaying the revolving credit card, as in clear and buy every month,.
plus trying to survive in Australia...
Gave my son £1000 as I didn't see him for the last two Xmas..and he has two babes ..I know its hard....

Why am I saying all this..well ..I have just done the spreadsheet and it looks like instead of the £300 I was due to pay off the CC end of the month it will only be £100..do I feel bad ..NO..I have paid off £2400 in the last three months and if it wasn't for the competition on here ..I would not be paying off a £100 this month...I would have been contributing to the Banks Xmas bonus scheme....

So thanks NSK for the effort you put in starting this thread..thanks to all those that are in competition with themselves...it is keeping me focused..:T And I want a new car..Changed from NEED..Over the last 3 years I could have bought a vineyard and an estate.(Car) :rotfl:possibly

Checking in later as I feel I NEED some wraps and I havent any..will see how it goes....;)

I know, shocking, people only buy what they need, how dare they  (although I know plenty of people that don't).

Fair enough it doesn't get the economy going but encouraging people to spend money they don't have clearly is stupid. You thought they'd have learnt that lesson by know, I guess someone needs to be blamed for the slow economy so it's us not spending, Ggrrrrrr....

Mr Cobes and Thrifty, I don't understand how us all going out and spending on credit actually helps the economy either, other than the banks make a lot of interest out of us. Martin's MSE mantra is clearly ruining our economy :rotfl::rotfl:

Just paid the £144 CC and £500 off the other one. Will pay the rest later :)

  • Evening all - apologies for being AWOL - where to start.... Well we looked at MiddleEarth house last friday, went to cornwall, viewed house again on Monday, and have spent 4 days painting 5 rooms inside and the outside of our current house. Cleaned carpets, decluttered everything, cleaned the kitchen and bathroom - (proper job not just a wipe around). Dealt with financial advisor, had three valuations done on ours today and spoke to our prospective cash buyer... on top of this leavers services, school visits for dear son along with the normal weekly activities... Hopefully things will pan out over the weekend so that we can make and offer etc next week...

Anyway Im knackered and my nerves are on edge. Im off to bed. Sorry havent caught up on posts but as the last two nights Ive gone to bed at 4am I excuse myself...

Oh and to make the dream my work hours need to step up now rather than in sept when ds starts school - this may almost break me but oh it will be sooooo sooooo worth it - its fantastic - lovely house, huge garden, paddock and stream..... Maybe just maybe...... Love to all LAGL xx

  • Hello all,

Not got a clue what my finances are doing/were doing, got locked out of online banking complete mare, needed to go to the bank to fix it!

I am not doing well really.

I am ok just not straight with the rest of my life if you see what I mean.

I changed the date of my standing order for my loan to pay the balance off. I was getting annoyed with it and so moved the money out of my savings to pay back at the end of the month.

My Credit card is currently 4990.

so tired need bed. hope all is well xxx
    Nevertheless she persisted.

    Hi all

I'm off on my holibobs in about an hour. Ok it's only a long weekend in Donegal but it will do :). I have budgeted and put money aside so I have 120 euros for my share of foods and accommodation. I won't have any more SFD until maybe Tues but I will be back on the wagon then.

It's my friend's birthday weekend and we're justing having a bbq/picnic on the beach - frugal sign of the times.
