    Morning everyone!!!

Ok - so yesterday was a Spend Day... Had a really nice Indian Meal and contributed to my friend's - £20 not bad... and £5 under budget from what I'd planned. Also got some food bits including loads of eggs and some... wait for it... yellow stickered broccoli for 21p per bag which I can freeze!!! Also got a bottle of pink fizz all on my Nectar Card, meaning it only cost me 20p for the lot!

Today *will* be a SFD. I have the gym later and that's it. Good idea to leave wallet at home too.

Thanks for the post of your son... I think we take it for granted sometimes that there are these guys and girls watching our backs. I don't like war - who does? But it's a reality we live with, and we owe a lot of our freedom to the bravery and support of people like this.

Great to see newcomers on board!!! Raven... Having gone through this trip to becoming debt free - any helpful hints you can share? How long did it take you...? Welcome other newbies too... Always the more the merrier!!! Nice to see other members back for more/support too!

    Catch you later!

brizzledfw, NSK, thriftylass.......I was so tempted to pick them out of the bin, but they had been in there for about 12 hours and it was such a hot day yesterday the bin had got a bit smelly!

Lesson definitely learnt, especially when it was backed up by me asking why he keeps throwing out the empty ice cream cartons. I have told him they are useful for freezing stuff when I'm batch cooking!

Poor boy doesn't know what's hit him! I hope he doesn't regret marrying me!!!!!

In other news, today will be nr 2 SFD. I'm really enjoying this challenge, it does become a bit addictive doesn't it!

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Groceries: £75/£300
    Fun: £0/£100
    Debt paid: £0/£460
    SFD: 1/20

Yesterday was a SFD, yippee! Today though I'm going to pop into town and buy Hubby a birthday cake for tomorrow (my little oven just won't cook cakes properly) and pick up some cooked meat scraps from the butchers for little kitty as he's still won't eat wet catfood, only biscuits.
  • Morning all, SFD no 3!! Wooo hoooo!!! Also mended two pairs of my jeans last night - the holes around the back pockets have been patched and oversewn and the pocket restitched in place. Took me a couple of hours but saved me about £50 on a couple of new pairs :)

DH just about finished fitting the skirting boards last night - need to stain, paste back the wallpaper and paint and that will be another job off the list!

Beef bolognaise bubbling on the hob, work to do - quiet house - all good!

Booked to look at Middle Earth Cottage a week on Friday. Suspecting low ceilings which may not work for my 6ft2 non hobbit husband. Minor detail of a flood plain too but loving the stream/river frontage and would never need to fill the paddling pool again...:D

Oooh found out today that the water from the bor whole on the place we saw yesterday tends to freeze in winter. Whoever does buy that place will need nerves of steel!:eek:

    Love to all,

    Bonjour tout le monde! :hello:

Just popping in to say I have been wrestling with the temptation monster.

I discovered yesterday that my last car insurance payment for the year was last month, so this month I am £96.31 better off! What did I do with the extra cash I hear you ask...? I considered a really super duper pair of running shoes, I filled up my basket on H&M online with lovely sale goodies for my holibobs, and I picked out a pair of work/play shoes I could wear with socks (I get the coldest feet ever, ballet pumps are not a good look as my feet go purple if the temperature drops below 22 celcius!) on the schuh website... In short, I spent that £96.31 around three times over. :(

    Or did I...?

Nope! Safely PADded to the pesky CC, with 69p for good measure to keep the bank account tidy. :T

And my goodness, the temptation monster so nearly won.

Also, SFD #1 for me yesterday :D

Wowzers you all move fast don't you! I fear talking twaddle to stick to one post a day - however I fear this might be short lived in keeping up with you little money saving Yompers... TSCHIC - going against my original plan of stopping fol from joining in I shall add thee to the challenge... since you are a late comer I expect extra Yompy-ness from you please...:T

Last nights food was a success.. all sundries accompanied by some last minute pea hummous as I didn't have salsa/guacamole or sour cream. It still went down well.... one of the girlies (I ended up with three in the end) is auditioning for The Voice today so fingers crossed she gets through but we had a rendition after dinner and very good it was too...

Right now you have all been busy... anything with mould on in my house gets picked clean and then eaten. It won't kill you. Blueberries separated and discarded according to their "squish" levels and potentials... strawberries suffer an obligatory taste test, bread will be toasted and slathered in avocadoa and fresh toms... and bananas that are blacker than your boot are made into cake...

Celery and blue cheese Zenshi - very imaginative! I have foudn to much celery in my smoothie is very overpowering though..

Jonesy get your fruit... I might have to make allowances for fruit and veg next month... I want you all to be healthy, happy, debt free Yompers... which fruit is your choice though. I am impatiently awaiting the ripening of a mango.. HURRY UP...

RoseyCheeks did you switch it off and switch it back on enough to cause a power surge...:rotfl:nice to have you lurking though...

Muchin every little helps - I have become slack on counting the pennies (the literal ones ) but am awaiting the stupid student loan returning £40 and the petrol money won't be added to my payslip until AUGUST - GRRR! But well done you....

Mr Cobes I have the same problem.. I have stopped holding a £25 emergency fund as I want this loan GONE.. it means I have everything gone outta my account and only the money for food in my purse... not sure its a great idea but its the way I am living! Do we have a name for the little one yet...? May I suggest Ninja Baby Yomper as a nickname.... :rotfl:

CrazyCatlady - this is a BRILLIANT idea for the bank accounts! I think I shall be renaming mine today - I am stealing your idea... so cool!!!

Lotti these things happen - I would rather you eat than earn and SFD...

MancMan you need to join us... stop lurking... and hows the wedding saving coming along.. Remind me when the big day is... do we all get invites...:rotfl:???

Beautiful Ravens... if you are self employed then hats off to you! Not an easy thing to be doing in the current climate... yellow sticker purchases are a definite SFD though...

ClootiesMum... which poochy food do you buy? I was looking at something cheaper for Mog but realised the stress it takes on her body, me smelling her from my bed ( she is based in my room with her litter tray - bleurghhhh! ) and the risk I take if she doesn't like the new stuff... so £26 for 2.5kg of Orijen Cat Food.... #groan

Lillian - Dr's offices have a habit of doing that.... money well spent I think...Hope everything is okay though...

Thrifty - have you made a decluttering/cleaning list...? How many days off the fags..? Have you ever calculated how much they cost you per week - I am intrigued now.... go on spilll the beans...???

Oooooh Abundant's got pink fizz! That was a super shop by the sounds of things... and under budget on nights out always make me happy ...:rotfl:

Avogirly - he won't regret marrying you when you are debt free and on a sunny holiday somewhere for two weeks to celebrate (with cash)... however you could always tell him it's too late now cause the ring is on the finger..:rotfl:

HM... are you getting a Colin the Catepillar cake... it's always the joke with work.. that that is what you request when it's your birthday no matter how old you are..:rotfl:...Hope the butcher is nice to puddy-tat...

Right might actually attempt some work now... maybe...

Kat can I come back in for this challenge please?

    Budgets:
    Personal spends: £4.49/£120
    Food: £0/£200
    SFD: 1/20

I'm trying my hardest to lockdown my spending as I need to get rid of this debt before the baby comes along in January. Although had to have the cat microchipped and booster today for the princely sum of £60!!! I had budgeted for it though as I put £10 a month away for each of the furballs, so didn't come out of personal spends :D
Only real spend has been £4.49 for a EU to UK adapter so I can use the steam cleaner I bought :D

I've not made a list yet but will. ATM I just can't find the time as things I need to do anyway (cooking, dishes, plants, washing, unexpected guests) get in the way. But unless I make a list this won't change. So I'll def have one this week.

Here's the first draft although I have now idea when to do all this ;)

JULY, TO DO-, CLEAN AND DECLUTTER LIST

    • Sort out craft box in bedroom and in living room
    • De-clutter my old toys in DS and bedroom attic
    • De-clutter attic behind beds (they’ve been very innovative in creating access to attic space in this house)
    • Weed garden, cut back trees, mow lawn
    • Get new aerial fitted or old one fixed, cancel Virgin and get Freeview (engineer called, to have a look on the 10th)
    • Fix cupboard door that hides freezer (new hinge needed)
    • Clean conservatory blinds and corners

    2013 TO DO LIST

    • Do up back garden (remove chuckies, put in grass, veg patch and decking)
    • Paint hall
    • Find picture and little cheap nick-nacks to make the house more homely or make them
    • Paint kitchen cupboards and walls

Fags, mmmh. I can't go by the money saving motivation anymore as I cut down so much or smoke OH's :o (max a fiver a week, and maybe again on a weekend sometimes). I know still savings, but it's not like I still smoke £30-50 a week. Want to stop completely though, it's not so much the addiction I struggle with but the habit (try to break that with being busy) and the cheeky reward (achieve stuff in the house etc instead). Slowly but surely I'll get there.
