  • Aw cute looking Owl! - I'm trying to imagine what name she'd be called! lol. And as for the sock monkey ... I can hand on heart, honestly say, that your pirate sock monkey is the very first sock monkey I've EVER truly liked. (along with ventriloquist dummies, they've always felt a tiny bit scary to me). He's totally adorable, and the pirate hat and eye patch really brings him to life. You clever thing!

  • Love your makes vikki_louise, I might have to borrow that bells on ribbon idea! And thanks for your kind comments, glad you decided to take the plunge and get the kits, I bet you will love them. I use ordinary toy stuffing too, have a big bag that I got from a local craft shop years ago, it has lasted me ages - will need to get more soon!

I am really enjoying seeing everyone's pictures on this thread, I would post some more of mine but have been busy making presents lately and don't want to risk the recipients seeing them!

  • Can anyone give me any advice at all please? I've started my first buscilla kit, did the sequins ok and another bit but just started on adding the first bit of felt. Aside having difficulties cutting it I think I'm doing it wrong. It says appliqu! and from what I can see that like a blanket stitch but without 'catching' the stitch so basically just coming up at the edge of the felt and back down on the other side of the edge. Is that right? It's ripping the felt as I'm close to the edge but also producing a very uneven edge. Will post a picture in a minute. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong or how you would do it?

On another note although a pain I love the look of the clear bead sitting ontop of the sequin

  • morning vikki,

sorry only just seen your post, if you click on my tin man you can go into my photobucket and see a bigger picture that allows you to zoom in to see the sequins closer (it goes a bit blurry) i go through the hole of the sequin then thread the bead through the needle then go back through the hole in the centre of the sequin to lock it if that makes sense.
re the appliquing, i use a small over sewing stitch to bin the edges together, not so close to the edge that it pulls through the fabric and frays it but i try and keep it an even distance.

make sure you follow the sheet that gives you the order you are doing things in as thats the real key to success.

hope you get on ok now
