What did he say about panda drivers?
I was talking about panda drivers answering emergency calls (obviously), as nobody would have to move out of the way of a 'basic driver', and wouldn't end up on a bus lane. Which is what this thread is about.0 -

Are you on a wind up or something?
Anyone who is blue light trained (obviously). :wall:0 -

How do the public know what grade of driver is driving?
Don't try and deny that police don't breach driving policy.
You made a generalisation on driver training which was wrong.0 -

I can see you're not.
Read the Dorset policy and read basic as panda driver.0 -

Do you accept some forces don't give basic drivers any training?
I think you'll find they do have an exemption to speeding and red lights. The law makes no mention of driving grade tho force policy will state different. It will state something like only speed and use blue lights in the gravest of circumstances.
No police force allows PC's who haven't had appropriate training to exceed the speed limit or be exempt from certain traffic signs. PC's with a basic authority can drive marked police vehicles but must obey all driving rules. The basic authority is given to people following a short assessment but without any extra training, but then they are not expected or allowed to drive their vehicles in any different way from the general public. PC's who have taken a 3 week response driving course are exempt from some rules and if judged competent will receive a standard ticket. They cannot pursue vehicles and cannot respond to jobs on the motorway. I won't comment on advanced drivers as I have not taken that course.0 -

Because if they have their blue lights on then they are blue light trained.
See, it's not that complicated.smashingyour... wrote: »Don't try and deny that police don't breach driving policy.
I'm not trying to tell you anything. But if they do, and they are caught, then they would be in serious trouble.
It's not difficult to tell if a police vehicle has exceeded the speed limit, as they have trackers installed.smashingyour... wrote: »You made a generalisation on driver training which was wrong.
No I didn't. My comment was in context with this thread. The OP wouldn't have had to move out of the way of a basic driver would they?0 -

Care to quote me on that....I thought not.0
