It's incredible to think that every person who ever lived on this planet is/was made from atoms that were forged in the heart of dying stars. And that physics tells us that energy is never "lost", it is simply transferred from one state to another. When we go, our bodies break down, our atoms enter another state and we will never, ever truly disappear.

I find these facts quite moving and profound, especially when I consider the alternative, which appears to be having a middle-aged woman in a M&S cardi, channelling my spirit in a tatty church hall and telling my loved ones that I am in a "better place".

Donkeys' years ago a boss of mine went to see a "psychic" and came back to work telling all her staff just how "amazingly accurate" the "psychic" had been. She then told us that the "psychic" had given her a tape of the session so that in the future it could proven how correct all the "psychic's" predictions had been. I think it took me and a colleague about ten minutes, after listening to the tape, to convince my boss that her "psychic" was a fake (as they all are). All the personal predictions were simply guesses that were very well suited to the answers my boss had given to some general questions, or responses to "uh-huhs", etc.

Randi is a genius, and a very, very brave man. The number of death threats he has received from "harmless" psychics he exposed as frauds is astounding.

We have him to thank, in part, for Penn and Teller, Robert Lancaster (StopSylvia and StopKaz) and numerous others who genuinely strive to make the world a more honest and fair place.

Incidentally, Randi's $1 million is held in escrow by lawyers. If psychic powers ARE proved by ANYONE the money will be handed over. Randi gets nothing regardless of whether or not the test criteria are met.

Sylvia Browne (her again) once went on Larry King Live and agreed to take the test, but subsequently trotted out a variety of excuses why she wouldn't do it. Mind you, she also appeared on Larry King on 4 September 2001 and failed to predict the devastating and heinous tragedy which was to occur just seven days later...

True or not ( and I am a sceptic) it did help someone i know. She lost her young daughter years ago now, but just after it happened someone suggested she see this elderly lady, part of a church/chapel.
No payment was asked for and at the end money was offered but refused.
She also told her not to come back for another reading.

What makes you think there'd be anything else?

It is my belief it's all human (as opposed to other animals/species) vanity.

We think we are so amazing because we can communicate and pass on memories but, in truth, we are just slightly more developed than other species simply because we CAN communicate and CAN record past events.

And that's what these psychics prey on. And, for that matter, religious leaders.

It's all a load of twaddle.
