Recorded mail to HSBC????

Has anyone on here sent an acceptance form or other letter regarding PPI to the HSBC? I'm very worried as my offer acceptance form appears to have been lost, either by the Royal Mail or the bank.

Royal mail are saying they delivered a note to the bank's PO that they have something to collect, and the bank say they've had nothing, so I'm in limbo!!!

I've asked for another form, but I keep getting someone in a foreign call center who just doesn't get it, and I'm getting nowhere.

I so wish I'd just sent it to them first class, and not recorded now. :(

I'd go recorded delivery but I wonder whether you could hand it in at your local HSBC branch and get a signature in receipt then they can't deny it.

I've already recorded it, that's the problem, and because its a PO Box, no one is accepting where it is! Has anyone else sent a signed for letter to HSBC and did it get there okay?

I've had a similar experience with a couple of banks where a PO Box has been involved and tracking has failed.

With a PO Box you collect the mail from Royal Mail, or for an additional charge they'll deliver it to you. It's possible hundreds of other letters were there at the same time. It's not uncommon for a recorded letter to appear to vanish when posted to a PO box as they do miss some of the barcodes when preparing the batch. For one of mine the complaint has been upheld and paid out, yet Royal Mail's site suggests that it's still in their network for delivery.

How long ago did you send your acceptance? Many banks will take 4 weeks or more to pay out from receiving the acceptance form, and it's not unknown for them to fail to confirm they've received it.

I find it hard to believe this is correct
This type of address would be a delivery Po Box IME
    What does the tracking show?

Only if the PO address and real address are served by the same delivery office will they deliver mail, otherwise it's collection only. The collection option is also cheaper.

The PO box will be based from the delivery office serving the PO box and delivery address(or under a diversion)
This is a bank dealing with PPI we are talking about
Banks (IME) dont mess around collecting PO boxes

The organisation makes no difference. Royal Mail treats a bank the same as a 3 person mail order company when it comes to PO boxes.

From the information I can see on RM's web site, they don't offer redirection to or from a PO Box.

Banks commonly have an infrastructure in place to process mail between offices, usually using a 3rd party secure courier. It's not uncommon for the same infrastructure to process mail coming from a PO Box.

This is how HFC/Beneficial work, and bearing in mind they're part of HSBC it's not beyond the realms of possibility that it's a group policy.

    Trust me on this
I know how PO boxes work and you will note I didnt say redirection
    I said diversion
If a bank was using a 3rd party then why would they be carded? The third party would sign and collect for the items

It just shows as "making its way through the system" on the Royal Mail site, and the asian lady on the HSBC phone says they have defintely NOT recieved it or processed it.
