I'd say that's a pretty standard reason for wanting a smartphone Kerri! I think it's wonderful that we're so connected nowadays (other times I curse it though!)... I get photos of my nephew all the time and it's lovely to see him even when I don't get chance to actually go and see him in person. :)

My SIL takes my nephew to baby sensory and is forever sending me links and info on my local one (I'm not sure why... haven't got a baby yet! :p) so I'll be checking it out once LO's here. I'm not desperate to do all the ante natal classes and make 'Mummy friends' (urgh, I hate referring to people as 'Mummies' rather than people in their own right, makes me want to gag :o) and OH will be home every morning with me so we'll probably end up doing things together and when I go back to work he's the one who'll be going along to the baby and toddler groups in the mornings. :) I hope he doesn't get eyed up by single mums thinking he's an available single dad!

Hahaha birdie, you'll have to give him a hickey each morning to claim your territory ;)I've never been one for wanting "mummy friends" really, but having only moved to Bristol a few months ago and working from home I don't actually know anyone here apart from my neighbour. I fear it might be a bit daunting and lonely talking to baby AND cats all day everyday, although the cats are quite interesting so far. OH does tell me that he can tell when I haven't spoken to anyone all day though, as I forget to give him cues to join in the conversation whoops.

Well... sweep tomorrow cancelled because they are too busy... and they were 'kind of hoping I would have had the baby by now'.

    What an inconvenience I am.

    Happy Halloween...

    Grumble grumble grumble.

p.s. Glossing door frames does not assist in the onset of labour either.

p.s.s. My OH came home from town today with orange facepaint so I can paint myself instead of having a baby to dress up

Babamoose boo to cancelled sweep and your OH is very thoughtful. you should paint your bump too :)

Kerri make sure you and your OH get whatsapp - you can send pictures and videos for free through that, I'm always getting pictures of my niece, it's ace :)

I've been a terrible snob and have been put off the NCT classes as they're in the next town over which isn't my favourite place :s plus even without that everyone going will be much further away than i intended. I'm going to stick with local groups to hopefully find people with babies around mine's age there, I'd love it if we could find people to be life long friends with and for little miss to go to school with
There's quite a few around near me it seems from a quick google, including baby sensory which everyone seems to rave about :)

Although my cousin's wife takes their son to the weirdest thing - messy tiddlers. she's put pictures up on facebook and it's basically her 3 month old son being sat in a paddling pool full of beans and rice krispies. I can understand it'd be ace for more say, toddler age to have some messy fun, but he just sort of gets sat there. looks really weird lol

and without explaining the whole story as it's really dull, a woman at work has really wound me up by being a moron and now i'm even more glad that after 6 January i won't have to put up with this nonsense any more

Sorry to hear your sweep has been cancelled. How annoying!

Paint your bump like a pumpkin to cheer yourself up! Then post pictures for us!!
  • BabaMoose - that's awful! It only takes 10mins. I hope they rearranged for tomorrow? I don't know about you but Herbie has defo reduced his movements for the past week which is concerning. I've already been sent up for monitoring twice since Saturday and tbh, if they had their way, I would be there every day. He used to move every hour for a good 10mins and now I can go hours with nothing. Thanks for the tip; I won't bother glossing any door frames to get Herbie out lol.

Lilymay - I agree that measurements are a bit useless. They weren't worried at all by dd1 (6lb7oz born at 42+3) yet were worried about dd2 being too small so had 3 extra scans to monitor her and she was 7lb 7oz born at 39+6.

Hope MiffyMoo is ok and all went well.

So annoying about having your sweep cancelled Baba! :( Please paint your bump! Would be great if you did then you went into labour... if you do please leave it decorated! ;)

I'm wearing a home-made pumpkin top at work today since my belly is such a good shape for it! :D Will post a picture later if I remember.

That messy group sounds down right bizarre TL! Don't think I'll be checking out a local one. :p

Chatting to OH at lunchtime and he doesn't seem keen on baby groups, surprisingly! :p I've told him it's about baby's social life but we'll see how things go, we know loads of babies through the rugby club so that may be enough. I told OH that if he does go along to any groups he's to wear a t-shirt with my face on! :rotfl: (I'm not really that possessive, honest! ;))

  • I'm the opposite! I'm scared of big babies! DS1 9lb 4oz at 41+3 (c-sec) DS2 6lb 14oz at 37+1 natural with episiotomy! Now I'm 37+3 and everyday I'm thinking more lbs & oz's!! I reckon I can get up to 7lb5oz out without being sliced?! I just do 't think I can cope with that and an under 2 to run around after! My stitches came undone from overdoing it after last time & I was in alot of pain for weeks! Stiches = rest as not that bad if healing nicely!
What if I do go over & have another 9lber? Thats a c-sec for sure! Then who looks after kids? There is no1! :-(

Have you been doing perineal massage? or perennial as my OH likes to call it. TMI alert... you put some oil on your thumb (or OH can do this), insert thumb up to knuckle nail facing your head. Then work in a U shape gradually pressing down as you rub from one side to the other. This helps to relax tension in the area, much like it would if you had other tense muscles, and allows the area to stretch further. If you do it from 32w onwards you'll find you get a really good stretch as you get more relaxin in your system and can really notice the difference. I'm a week away from starting. At first I thought it was just rubbing around your backdoor, but the hypnobirthing lady instructed us otherwise and it makes sooo much more sense now.

I'd probably get caught by one of the kids & scar them for life too!
