Can anyone help re: Moses basket stands please . What's the preference, rocking or non rocking? We just had a basic non rocking one last time so I've no idea if we would use the rocking function? Part of me thinks it could be useful for settling baby without me getting out of bed but I'm not entirely sure? X

There appears to be conflicting views on it... some say it is really handy to rock (...and there is the added benefit of being half asleep and reaching gently to push something until it rocks)... however some say it leads to a kind of dependency of being rocked to sleep/rocked when tetchy, so the transition to a cotbed/bed might be difficult.
I know for cribs the general sway is towards 'gliding' cribs rather than swinging cribs... but not sure what bearing that has on anything.

I have a rocking one and a fold away stable one - thinking the foldaway can be downstairs and the rocking upstairs and I'll just risk the whole becoming dependent thing. They grow out of moses baskets pretty quickly so I don't think whichever you opt for will cause you to curse that you didn't opt for the other.

Thank you that's really useful :) I'm swaying towards a rocking one as I've seen some come with blocks to stop them rocking (ideal when you have a 3yr old!) during the day time I will probably leave the stand upstairs or even just use pram downstairs. Xx

    Lovely bump continual diamond :)

Vic I shall try take a pic tomorrow. My bump just feels so high and such a solid lump! X

  • We got the gliding crib from mothercare and it has stoppers on so you can have it still as well.

We haven't gotten in to the habit of needing to rock it for my lo, but he's good at settling to sleep at night. It was always the days where he needed help. I think that's common with the early days. :)
Newly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!
  • today I am 38 + 5 I am hoping that he comes the same way his brother did so 39+2 but that means I need to have a show tmrw....

hmmm...... although the Braxton hicks are still fairly consistant I have this horrid feeling the little monster my stay a while longer than I would like...

maybe I should scrub the kitchen floor tmrw to help, its not as big as the bathroom in the previous house that I scrubbed last time but its gotta help.

Now up to 4 cups of disgusting raspberry leaf tea, the oh has never had so much oral, (well he did actually last time I was pregnant! lol) bet a man wrote the article and loads of men have paid him loads since....

here's hoping I don't go over 9 days and counting....
I need to start saving so I plan to save £2 a week to start with:beer:
  • Well, saw the consultant today and booked in for induction Saturday morning! Jumping the list a little bit - apparently next week is very busy for inductions already so they want to get it done earlier rather than later.

Oh wow tiny, 2ish more days and you'll be meeting your little one, so exciting! :D

Been to see the midwife, baby is 4/5 engaged so only slightly... She says they quite often engage at the last minute or bob in and out so doesn't really mean very much lol. Who knows!

Mine is still free at 37 weeks and I was told some just don't engage until labour, so it's nothing to worry about.
