Congratulations to the recent births :T

Does anyone else find they have super down in the dumps days for no particular reason?? I'm usually quite a bright n cheery kind of person, but the last couple of days I have been a misery guts for no real reason! Tried to snap out of it yesterday, and had Chinese for tea and a nice long bubble bath etc - but then this morning I woke up a misery again :o Any tips??

I will be ok - just not used to the gloominess. I cried during tea last night for no reason at all!! Felt a right idiot. I'm really happy with how everything is going right now, its so odd being so gloomy :o

  • Congratulations bella and littleskintdragon.

Hubby and I have just been talking about when our little one arrives. (it's his day off today as he works Saturdays).

I selfishly like the idea of hubby and I just enjoying baby to ourselves for a few hours before letting people know, does that sound bad??

I have my mother in law who claims she will come straight to the hospital and friends asking if its okay to visit not long after. Well I haven't even had the baby and the idea of that I hate. I'm sure I will just want some peace.

In a way it would be nice to not tell anyone that we're even at the hospital, lol. That way no one will be bugging hubby with text messages or trying to phone him for updates.

Well finally my snap fish order has arrived, got 50 free prints so printed off all my pregnancy photos that hubby has taken every 2 weeks for me. Got a tatty teddy photo album so going to put them in order as well as the scan photos. Yes I was even sad and took photos of the 3 pregnancy tests I took, hahahaha.

How can I be number 10 on the list?

After my appointment & scan yesterday I reckon I should be closer to 7th as looks like I will be induced around 39 weeks because of GD

Now on tablets to control blood sugars :-(

Just had midwife appointment at home - very strange! Not sure whether it was worth it!

Need to get listening to my hypnotherapy cd now as def won't be able to have a water birth - still don't like the idea of an epidural - but if I'm induced I think I might have to have one :-(

    Congrats on the new babies

Still can't believe that in 3 weeks I will have a baby!

    36+6

Had my travel system arrive Monday but the box that the car seat was in was completely battered - phoned up & got another one delivered today - box in a bit better condition but still pretty battered - reckon I should complain again? Am I blowing the whole thing out of proportion? They obviously don't package them up well to begin with - the car seat doesn't look damaged - but I can't be sure that it isn't!

That's not very good, I wouldn't be happy either. In fact knowing me I'd doubt myself over the car seat, but that's just me. I know it's just a box, but I'd be like yourself. I wouldn't worry about complaining again if you decide too, as in feeling silly for doing so. After all you've got to feel confident about it, not use having another thing to worry about if it would put your mind at ease ring up.

Continual, have been discussing when to let people know with my DH recently. I'm happy for a few hours after bubs is born but the problem is he works for his dad so will obviously have to tell him if things are kicking off... Id really like to have some time to ourselves too, think unless they keep us in for any reason I'm going to say no one to hospital... We shall see if family obey though!

Also hacked a bush down and had several nosey beggers from the village telling me to put my feet up. They mean well but things need doing! I'm nesting and nothing is safe - if it looks messy/out of place/untidy it's gone! I only wish I was like this when not pregnant. How bizarre that we nest it isn't like baby's going to come home and think 'this place is so clean and tidy. Lucky little me'

This made me laugh, I feel the same - I want everything spotless but I know it won't really matter to baby! Although it'd be nice to start off with a tidy, organised house, given the mess it's likely to get in once we've got a newborn to look after! :rotfl:

I'm planning that exact scenario. Only a select few will be told when I go into hospital (my mum, dad and in laws) with strict instructions not to tell anyone else and not to turn up at the hospital unless explicitly invited. We're then going to wait a couple of hours after the birth for me and OH to recover and bond with bubs before texting our parents a picture with the name, time and weight. Ideally no one will see me in hospital, but we'll start letting close family come to visit for a short while (hour or two agreed time slots!) once we're home.

Part of the reason I'm being cagey/secretive is that a friend's baby was born with a medical problem but her mum had already texted all the friends and family announcing the birth, and then had to hastily send another text to everyone telling them not to send any cards or congratulations until they hear that everything's ok. It was so sad. I don't want people knowing anything until I know we're all in the clear.
  • Congrats on the new arrivals!

Re letting people know, our hospital is really quite good with not letting people in to see you if you don't feel up to having visitors/not ready for them. We've decided that we will let our parents know when I go into hospital, and then not until baby has arrived and we are back on the post natal ward.

In the delivery suite, only 1 person is allowed in the room with you (so that'll be my DH). So if you have other people turn up, they have to stay in the waiting room outside, and it's not even a room it's basically a few seats in a corridor. If everything is OK once baby arrives, they give you 2 hours in the delivery suite, just you and your DH (or whoever you want) and baby, before transferring you down to the ward.

Once on the ward, normal visiting hours apply (except to DH obviously), and only 2 visitors per bed, although there is a day room on the ward that you can go and sit in with baby and visitors if you want to. I've only had my MIL creating a fuss so far about visiting straight away, even my own mum has said she and my dad are happy to wait until we get home if that's what me and DH want. No way is MIL getting to be there until we are back and settled on the ward (at the earliest!). When my SIL had her first, MIL was there with the camera taking pics about 5 minutes after baby had arrived, my poor SIL hates the pics as she looks so knackered in them - no chance MIL's getting to pull the same stunt with me!
