Congratulations!
For me, the reasons why I am hoping to have as little pain relief is possible are mainly to do with wanting to get home as soon as possible (I have an irrational fear of staying in hospital/ MLU). Sounds silly but there you go. There is also the fact that I just seem drawn to it- I can't really explain it.
However, I am more than open to anything and everything should the situation demand it medically. My birth plan is very simple- as natural as possible if possible, but if not, then just look after me and the baby with whatever is needed.0 -
Congrats Justonemore...!
Cloudy11, that's exactly how I feel too.0 -
I never got the option of much in the way of interesting pain relief! I have very very funny labours - I basically don't seem to go "into labour" as such - I get all the pains and niggles (2 weeks worth last time!) getting progressively more uncomfortable - but if I'm checked I don't dilate at all. Then I just, to use the midwife who delivered Robyn's description of it, "go bang" - waters break and I go from 0 to baby in a matter of a couple of minutes (last time I did have an "ok I really need to get these trousers off before the baby comes" moment and hubby nearly missed it as he'd ducked out of the door to ring work and tell them he wasn't going to be in - and was bodily yoinked back into the room by the midwife).
So I get to do the whole thing on paracetamol since they don't believe that I'm in labour (the doctor last time got the mickey taken out of her sooooo badly and the very experienced midwife admits that she got caught out totally as well) and barely get let loose on the gas and air till they finally believe things are happening!
Last one was a sub-15 minute spectacle... with the history of premature deliveries from my wonkily set oven timer, coupled with the speed of 'em - I'm NOT going for number 3 in case I beat either of the personal bests! I'm a very real risk of a prem baby at the side of the road and I think they'd be pushing to admit me in the weeks before the point I usually try to go into labour as a precaution if I had another baby (and no way am I having weeks of hospital food).Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Back from my midwife appt & I was totally wrong, which makes sense seeing as though I'm not a midwife, lol.
Baby is 4/5 engaged. Had the bottom near the top of my bump and then was curled round to my right.
Txt my hubby as of course he's at work and his reply was 'Oh s....' followed my another txt message of 'I'm scared'.
He can't wait for us to bring baby home etc and get settled into being a family but he's really really nervous about seeing me go through labour and has kept saying he wanted me to have a c-section.
Back in 2 weeks for next appt, though when I left and said see you in a few weeks she did reply 'If I don't see you before hand, baby is considered full term now'.....Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -
So i had my appointment with the diabetes lady - they have assumed i have got gestastional diabetes because of the trace of glucose in urine last wed - the bigger than average belly measurement (baby's) & the blood result on monday
So now got to test blood sugar 4 times a day - whilst trying to cut down on sugars - another growth scan next Tuesday with a talk with the 'proper' diabetes consultant and another doctor
Looks like i definately won't go past my due date - so i actually might have a September baby!
I was/am 'planning' on having a natural birth with no drugs - purely because i want to experience the birth properly - i ideally want to have a water birth - i don't like the idea of an epidural - purely because of my size & the risks involved - but i do know that there is a possibility of me wanting all the drugs when i am actually in labour - but no harm in thinking of ideals!
Still in shock

Yay Vic for 3rd trimester! How are you feeling? X
You too tomorrow! I'm feeling great but since I've returned to work after a 6 week holiday, I've got really bad lower back, right at the base/top of my bum. I can climb and come downstairs fine, bend down fine but it's really hurting me to walk. Any ideas anyone? Also, is it safe to use a warm hot water bottle to try to ease it?
How are you scarlet? XDS born November 2013 :smileyhea0 -

Hi Nessie - sorry to hear that. I have 'normal' diabetes although as it's treated with fast acting insulin it's quite different to gd (as I can inject to match my food intake which you can't do with gd) so quite a different approach. I seem to be injecting industrial quantities of insulin at the moment though - 4 or 5 times my normal dose, which is a bit freaky.
Sorry to say, but they may not let you go into labour naturally as they may want to induce you early - in which case you will most probably need pain relief as the contractions induced by syntocinon can be very painful, much more so than normal contractions.
If however they let you have the baby when it comes, then this won't be an issue. Have they said whether you'll be induced or not?
PS if it makes you feel any better I am testing around 12 times a day!0 -

congratulations justonemore!
I'm feeling a bit down. I'm supposed to do an aqua aerobics class tonight but I'm so fed up with my swollen feet that I just want to rest them.
How big were your hospital bags? did you have a seperate one for baby? I tried to use my boots freebie changing bag for baby's hospital bag and it was far too small for a few babygros and bodysuits never mind nappies! I think I might use a small suitcase for my hospital bag or an extremely large bag. OH hates my suitcase cos it's bright pink! lol 35+60 -
My midwife can't determine the position of the baby so I need to have a presentation scan on Monday. Hopefully I wont go into labour before then, got airshow tickets for Saturday and I really want to take the wee boy.
Pain relief - first time round I had pethidine, spinal block and gas and air (did have a forceps delivery due to a back to back baby who got stuck) This time round ill take anything they want to give me :rotfl:0 -
