My last house was a 3 bed mid terrace and we paid about £36 for gas and £45/50 ish for electric. This old, draughty farmhouse has been a shock to the system in more ways than one!
I changed from npower before Christmas to Scottish Power on a Fixed until April 2014 deal. I've looked online and I have noticed there is an entry saying "Change of Plan" in early April. This coincides with me not getting paid on time at Easter and having to stall the Direct Debit by 2 days. I'm now wondering if they've cancelled my deal. I haven't had anything in writing to say that is what has happened, so will have it out with them on Saturday morning when I ring them up. If they have stitched me up, I will go and find a better deal. No loyalty here where money is concerned :T

TMD sorry to hear this. It does sound like we may have changed the tariff. If you want to save ringing, contact us at the e-mail address in our profile & we will investigate & contact you back. I don't think reinstating the tariff will be an issue.

5 minute sit down with a cuppa.. first of the day before dashing off to rediscover the front room for the nursery teacher coming at 2:30 and so we have a room to get DD2 into her prom dress..

Her hair and nails are sorted.. The woman doing her hair had someone not turn up so DD got in at 11 instead of 4.. as it is pouring with rain OH picked her up and sorted the lack of prom ticket. My sister is coming to do her make up at 3 and my mother is coming at 4 to help shove her in the dress.. while I collect Moomin and Tiddles from school..

Squeak and Dot were up at 6 so Dot has just gone down for a much needed nap.. she couldn't stop crying so bed is the place for her.

I'll get those infernal bills paid now.. before I forget again!! I've not got many to pay today.. I quite like the end of the month when nothing is due! :p

Get 4-5 quotes... send them the most expensive 2 and go with the middle one.. When we had the fire I got decorator quotes and the insurance company paid us the cash so I did the decorating myself.. getting the new cooker took FOREVER though.

On the bright side.. while it has made a nasty nasty mess no one was hurt and it is all just 'stuff' and the room was not full of all your rammed in belongings like it was before you started.. imagine how awful that could have been! xxx

Bills paid, cuppa glugged, Squeak fell asleep on OH so is now on the sofa snuggled up and snoring.. off to clear the front room :eek

Hope everyone is having a good morning I have not gotanything done in house but I have paid bills made some phone calls I needed tomake some work some housed. Work is abit slow this month so that’s worrying me a bit I really don’t want to go baketo a day job so will have to concentrate on work a bit more and get thingsgoing again. We had 5 days in Cornwall last week with oldest daughter and granddaughterand I have not really got bake in to work mode. I got some paint in B&Qyesterday it had been reduced so I am thinking about starting some decorating Iam also thinking about having a go at papering in the bathroom never done wall paperbut is only one wall and a strip over the door as rest of the room is tiledit’s a tile pattern so should not be too hard I hope  any advice from anyone whodose wall papering would be good.

Hair decluttered :T am I allowed to say I wish he'd done it even shorter :D but couldn't tell until it was dried and the kiddies were getting hungry. Well pleased with it though. I've booked us all for trim before hols so will ask him to take it a little shorter then.

There's toys everywhere  just having some soup - sent kids upstairs as they wouldn't stop running around when supposedly eating after telling me how hungry they were.

I'm going to do 2 x HHC at 1.30 if anyone fancies. May involve putting dd down for a nap again... Can hear her screeching...

TMD I hope SP sort your problem out. For information, they were our suppliers on a 12 month FTC, but the quote for this year was an increase of about 30%, so we're with EDF again - a 10% increase, which seems like a relief, but that's still 10% which is treble the rate of inflation. How come increased power (and petrol) costs are always strataspherically more than the inflation rate?

Skint Oh ((((((hugs and more hugs)))))). I honestly don't know how you cope and still take the time to write that long post on power suppliers. I've saved it as a masterclass in my Finance folder and I'm grateful for it. Please take care of yourself today.

    Congratulations Deus!

I managed to clean the oven without really thinking about it yesterday, which is amazing considering the years it didn't get done at all. I also defrosted the fridge last week, albeit far from perfectly, but I'm beginning to realise I don't have to clean everything so that it looks like new again - just get it to an improved state and have another go when I have more time. As a new system is working for me and I'm a lot more relaxed about housekeeping generally.
    Better is good enough.
