In other news still not found any time to sew apart from my 2 exchange cards.

Not sure if I shared, but grandad passed away towards the end of October, we are still sorting out his house, he was a horder, found 5 antique sewing machines! Hoping it will be finished soon and we can begin to get some closure.

I'm also nearing the end of my course, so I'm hoping that in the new year i will be able to get back to some actual sewing!

Sorry to hear of your loss.

Do you have to take an exam or just complete the course?

My twisted band is nearly finished. Just 3 bands to go. Then I will personalise it with a message "Stitched in memory of my Mum - Betty G*** - 1943-2014 - remembered with love x." The remembered with love is on her headstone and I suggested it. It might not be exactly that wording I put on the stitch but close to it. One of the girls said there is a shop that stretches and laces stitching to frame, so might get it professionally done as it is such a special one and I don't want to muck it up.

Was going to make a lentil dish this afternoon for dinner with some nice venison sausages I got but noticed I have no lentils - so will have to go out - grrrrrr.

Beautiful piece from mrsmp. Your choice of finishing the band sampler will be lovely.

This Christmas will be tough "firsts" without a loved one are hard.

sweetcarer, this time of year is difficult for me too, my dad passed in the first week of Jan 2013 and the last time I saw or spoke to him was new years day...its tough and emotional but I just have a cry when I need to, sod anyone else, and believe me having stitching at hand to take your mind of it really does help

Hello ladies, big hugs to those that need them. Hope things have improved for all since.

I do have some updates for you:
The 'alternative' stitch I'm doing at mum's house (though I didn't do any last time like I said I was going to. Challenging myself on this one, by using one length of thread of each colour, which is why it looks a bit sporadic.

FOS - thank you ever so much for posting a pic of your card to me. It is beautiful and I have taken a photo but just not had a chance to post it up as I have been laid up with a bad chest infection which makes me feel like I have hot rods poking in my chest.

All the xmas exchange makes are really fab and it is great seeing them all.
