DS2 has a friend coming this afternoon and we are off to the cinema, then they are having a sleepover. Hoping to work on !!!!!! later tonight as progress is really s-l-o-w and I'm going away on Saturday for two weeks without it!

This is the update from last night - spot the difference :rotfl:

    :wave:Hello Everyone,
It's the summer holidays and I've time to stitch again :j
Since last posting ages ago I still haven't finished my millennium sampler as I have learned how to crochet so I've been making a granny square blanket for my sofa.
Will have a read through now and see what everyone is up to:)

  • Afternoon :)

Thank you all for the very warm welcome, you're a lovely bunch!!! Me and backstitch need to have a proper talk. I've got a few things that I've found that are beauts without any, and once I've done these then the backstitch is going to have a fight on it's hands!!

The shop pictures are lovely!! So, so pretty!

Forgive me for asking, but what are sandy hook squares?

there was a group set up worldwide (i think via facebook that was mentioned on here. the idea is that crossstitched squares would be made into quilts in memory of all those who died in the sandy hook school massacre in America. the squares are being made into quilts in america and given to the affected families and as memorials in the school.
thats how i understood it anyway, if i have it wrong i apologize and someone will be along shortly to explain better

    Hi Girls,

Just popping on during my lunch break and remembered I had something to tell you.

If you have any squares for the Sandy Hook quilts - they are looking for them before 20th August.

I will be sending mine soon - need to iron them first - washed them all last weekend but didn't get round to ironing them. Need to be in the mood for ironing.

Working away on my wee teddy birth samplers - might have photos at weekend to show you plus final pictures of my Sandy Hook squares.

Keep well - till next time

    sweetcarer ;)

Better make a start on my last one - I volunteered last week when someone was struggling with fractional stitches. Will go feed kittens and then make a start
  • I've just remembered that i was going to delurk a while ago as someone was reviewing a cross stitch mag and mentioned the celeb stitch was Benedict Cumberbatch and nobody knew who he was. He plays Sherlock in the new BBC adaptation and i have to say he's my guilty crush - wish i'd bought the mag now!

    (South!) Orpington :)

Thank you mrs-moneypenny, the kit has a bead needle included. It's a great little kit, everything you need all packaged up in a plastic clip tight box. All threads sorted too!
