I think I need to pull out my stitching stuff again and stitch a sign for the bathroom that states:

Changing the toilet paper roll does not cause brain damage.

DH never changes the roll when he empties it! Ugh, men! :p

Love this idea, if you chart one I bet you could sell it! My son never thinks to check if there is a roll and then yells at the op of voice if he needs one - he's 15!!! This sounds like we leave him without any but he's the only one that uses that bathroom.

Coxy - good luck with the interview.

Spent ages catching up over on the 14 in 14 thread and hubby wants his laptop back so need to be quick.

As I mentioned I've finished Henry. After I said that the other day I found that I still needed to do the beading and some french knots (yuck). Actually managed to finish everything at 1.40am on Friday morning. I framed it yesterday evening, including cutting a mount. I hadn't planned on framing it myself but the man I use is on holiday for a month.

Anyway, I gave it to my Dad last night for his birthday and he loved it. He was quite choked to be honest. As a reminder this was a kit my Mum bought before she died. Dad has commented every time he's seen me stitching it but didn't know I was doing it for him.

Now what next? I asked my hubby this last night and his comment was "don't you think you should finish one of the dozen things you've got started". Not very helpful.

This looks stunning and how clever to frame and cut you own mount.

I'm sorry, I have been reading posts and not posting very much at all. I haven't been stitching very much so I didn't have anything to show you. However I have now managed to make a start on the sampler I am doing for my grandson. I may have bitten off more than I can chew. I have been really struggling to get into it because I am using 14 count aida as it is such a big picture. Trying to sew in the evening has been really hard even with my daylight lamp. I have had a couple of days off work now so have managed to get on with it. Anyway here is the progress so far.

I have also bought some threads on the facebook group that somebody posted about ages ago on here. https://www.facebook.com/groups/151637411694033/
I am really happy with them. I got 100 threads wound onto card bobbins for £31.20 including postage and they came really quickly. I am going to order another 80 this week and then I will nearly have the whole DMC range apart from the new colours they have just brought out. Thank you to whoever it was that posted about this group.

I will try to post updates more often now that I have actually started the sampler properly.

Got a ton of catching up to do, but here's the pic I promised. My crochet throw & two scarves. Will read back and post about my show visit later...

Hippipal - nice start on piglet and pooh. I've did a few Winnie the Pooh designs, many years ago, and found them hard going. I think it's the expanse of just one colour. I know it should be easy to do but I found I got bored with it and switched off. What is the overall design like?

Ruth - your throw and scarves look good. Wish I could crochet, it's on my list of things to learn. I've tried several times but just can't seem to master it.

Ruth, those scarves are lovely and I love the throw, may I ask how big is it and do you have a link to the pattern? I'm going to make one large enough for my bed but i'll do it in summer ready for next winter :rotfl:

Alisb, henry looks great, I really want to learn to frame pieces myself and cutting apertures etc, did you use any special tools?

Hippipal, good progress on pooh :)

Thank you very much :T Yes I remember now. The reindeer was a another UFO of mine !

On a crafty theme, does anyone crochet? I thought I might give this a go and wondered if it was easier than knitting? (which I'm rubbish at!)

I crochet and find it MUCH easier than knitting. I never can get the yarn the correct tightness when knitting, it's always far too tight after about 4-5 rows and I have to give up!

I have made little dolls with crochet before, and I'm currently working on a baby blanket that we will hopefully need soon.

I crochet too, self taught from youtube I used these videos http://www.crochetgeek.com/p/beginner-crochet-stitches-video.html I think I follow the US terms for the stitches but tend to look at videos to check what is needed. I've made some fingerless gloves, a lovely scarf and i'm going to finish that granny square bag :D I've seen so much I want to make but not enough hours in the day :( If you want some cheap hooks then these are great clicky you can get the set a little cheaper from other sellers but I've bought loads from them and always a good service.
