Crochet is my first love. Infact I have been so slack at posting on here because I have been indulging.
Give it a go FE - I'll teach you if you like x (but you-tube is equally useful)

Hippipal - nice start on piglet and pooh. I've did a few Winnie the Pooh designs, many years ago, and found them hard going. I think it's the expanse of just one colour. I know it should be easy to do but I found I got bored with it and switched off. What is the overall design like?
It is the one at the top of the back page of this book. You will see that I have quite a lot left to do!
(Not quite sure why my pictures are all posting so big)0 -
Thanks for all your replies.
I'm waiting for postie to deliver an amigurumi book I ordered and I've reserved this book from the library. I'll have a read and work out what I need. Out of interest, can you use any wool ? or does it have to be
this stuff ???
I'm quite excited. I fancy trying something new although I'm not sure how successful I'll be. But I'll give it a go. I'm bored with knitting - haven't done it for ages after I was knitting a scarf and miscounted/dropped stitches after an evening trying to drink wine/watch a film/chat and knit all at the same time. My knitting skills are quite basic - I can knit and purl, cast on etc but that's about it. If I drop a stitch or need to increase, well I've had it ! I was quite disappointed as I saw a cool knitting book of cats yesterday while I was in town. Got home and found the same book on amazon cheaper :T but the reviews were poor saying the patterns weren't great and even for experienced knitters, it left them scratching their heads.
I think my first love will always be cross stitch though. There is something so precise about it that you can't beat!
Anyone counting down to Line of Duty on Wednesday night??0 -
You can use any wool you like - just use the appropriate sized hook - it will say on the ball band. Obviously thicker wool and larger hooks = bigger finished size.
I wouldn't start with amigurumi if I were you - it's too fiddle. Start with square of stitches, and try and keep 'em square if you dare... then move on to granny squares.
I would use DK wool and a 5 or 6mm hook to start with
Best of luck - and if you get stuck look on you tube. x0 -
FE, you just reminded me of the first thing I crocheted it was a Ogeechee Bear I will dig him out so you can see my attempt :rotfl: I've used Aran and DK any wool is fine.
Hippipal, wow that is a big design but will look wonderful finished.
Has anyone stitched any Mothers Day cards? I've found a couple of easy designs so will pick one and get it done.Cross Stitch Cafe Member No1WIP: Cross Stitch: - Crochet:0 -

MrsMP - sorry to hear about the funeral, hope it goes as well and these things can.
Hippipal - your Winnie sampler will look lovely when it's finished, keep up the good work.
Got the day off today and hoping to spend it using the sewing machine to do more to my quilt, so no cross stitch today for me.

House warming gift for my Nephew and his family. Frame cost £1.50 from Sainsburys, I cut the mojnt from card stock I had, the fabric and thread were from stock I had and the pattern was one I have previously used. Martin would be impressed with meCross Stitch Cafe Member #59 :j
