just popped in during the ad break for Location Location etc to show my latest project. It's the first time I've marked the aida with the soluble pen and at first I thought it was OTT but it's proved invaluable with the monochrome colour scheme and confetti stitches. It's a DMC kit in the same range as my sepia kittens I finished in Jan and I'm having problems with this one too. I'm less than half way through but have run out of 3 colours and some symbols have rubbed off the thread holder card they supplied, the card is slightly shiny and won't hold biro ink. I'm really disappointed in these kits, they were nearly £14 each. I'm going to "complain" to DMC. (Luckily I've got a good stash of DMC threads so I've not been held up by the missing ones).
Anyway here it is:

and progress as at Sunday:

EricsMum - thats really good progress. It's reminded me that I have one of these of a Westie to stitch for my MIL. Heaven knows when I'll get round to it. I supose I should start it sooner rather than later as she is getting on a bit and I would like her to have it. You never know watchingnyour progress may inspire me to do it after I finish Henry.Cross Stitch Cafe Member #59 :j

I can't leave it alone, nearly finished the head ! I've had a nasty cold and have been using it as an excuse for not doing housework etc :rotfl:
Also as I said earlier it's a lot easier with the grid lines marked even though it looks messy.0 -
Had a near disaster yesterday morning - knocked half a cup of black tea over stash of stitchy stuff  I didn't realise straightaway either. Thankfully nothing of any importance spoilt as the majority of it is stored in plastic bags. Drying out a few mags, some chart (photocopies) can be reprinted if I need them - could have been a lot worse.
No time to catch up with recent posts - but promise I will later today.

Just realised I didn't post about my purchases at the show in Esher last weekend.
I was very good and only bought one kit!

Planning to do this for our bedroom as I am planning to repaint it a very pale green next year. Will have a major swap around of pictures when it's done.
Also bought a new pair of embroidery scissors and six buttons for a baby cardigan I've made. DH bought some cheese :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Didn't actually see anything else that grabbed me.
I was hoping to find something small to take on holiday next month but have decided to take an old magazine chart of a traditional sampler from my ever-decreasing stashI have some lovely antiquey looking evenweave that I received in an exchange and will sort the threads out at the weekend. Because the fabric is lovely and soft I will be able to use a hoop.
I've bought a soft laptop shell to put my travel project in as usually it gets a bit scruffy looking from being stuffed in my giant holiday handbag!
I'm about three quarters of the way through 'overlook cafe' and have done the backstitch as I go as there's loads. I will do all the french knots and lazy daisies at the end as I didn't want to squish them.
I have a couple of little trinket pots that I picked up at a boot fair so might do the lids for them next as I fancy doing something small.
Hope everyone is having a lovely stitchy weekCross Stitch Cafe Member Number 44:rudolf:Cross Stitch Is For Life Not Just For Christmas :rudolf:0 -

Hi all,
tricksie - that's a lovely kit, I especially like the flowers
Beg - hope not too much damage, I've had many near misses in the past
ERICS MUM - lovely little dog and it's so detailed with all the shading.
Wet and very windy here in Kent, so as I can't get out to the garden I will use the time wisely and stitch
Here is an update on the stockings. I'm doing a bit of the black background each day to break up the monotony, it's 3 strands of black so quite tough to get through the 18hpi Aida.

Tricksie - what a good girl you were not spending loads and what a lovely kit you got. The softshell case is a good idea.
BEG - hope everything dries out for you. I had a similar thing happen with a cup of tea spilling on a pile of magazines last year. The only lasting damage from my spill were the covers of the magazines the pages dried out ok so hopefully you will be as lucky.
Coxy - your stockings are looking good. I hadn't realised that the background was black but seems obvious now as they are hanging from what I assume is a firplace or similar.
Still stitching Henry. On the last wife to his right so once I've finished her, hopefully by the weekend, I'll post a picture.
Hope everyone is safe and dry and the floods aren't causing you problems. I really feel for the people who are on high alert AGAIN or having to be evacuted from their homes.Cross Stitch Cafe Member #59 :j
