beg - I really like your tree, what are you planning on doing with it?

Hopefully once its framed, it will be put up in my kitchen to replace John Clayton's Tulip Fields that I did a little while ago. Unfortunately I have a severe lack of wall space now - so I tend to have to take something down before a new one goes up :(

Have you had any success in getting lime green frame for dolly. I spotted these in Ikea the other day - good price and they do them in various sizes. Hth.

Mrs M - looking forward to seeing next update of Titanic.

No more bobbinating over the weekend unfornately as I will have to wait til I can get into town and hopefully the shop will have restocked the bobbins by then.

Waiting for tv man coming out this morning as our aerial blew down on Saturday night/Sunday morning and the soonest they could come out was today (weather permitting). So it has been banging on the side of the house since then - apart from the annoying noise if it wasn't damaged at first it probably will be by now. :(

Take care everyone and stay safe.

I just popped in to show my latest project but have got side-tracked by everyone else's lovely work. I'm sorry I can never remember who is stitching what, I don't know how you all type a reply that is cross referenced to loads of other posts !

Anyway, the Titanic is going to look stunning when it's finished, such strong colours are already giving it "atmosphere" if you see what I mean.

I love the Dolly Mamas range and the green and blue one is particularly nice. Mum has done a couple which we haven't framed yet, must get around to it.

As for the tea sampler - it will make you smile every time you look at it !

The tree is really unusual - at first I thought it was a Michael Powell design but the lines are too straight for his usual style.

My heart goes out to SweetCarer for the loss of her Mum. We've had our fair share of sad news on this forum over the past few months.

    Hi ladies.

    Ericsmum. Lovely kittens, really cute!
Just as I was about to post this I saw your latest post and thought I'd share what I do re posting about lots of other posts. I go to my last post, scroll to the bottom of that page and hold the ctrl button while clicking on 'post reply' This opens a new window with the reply box in it. I then click between the 2 windows writing my replies to each person as I read the thread. When done, click submit reply on the window you opened and have been writing your post in. Close the original window because this is now out of date and carry on using the 2nd window you opened.
I usually save the post every so often to an empty text document on my pc desktop as windows has a habit of 'closing and re-opening the page' which causes you to lose your post.

    Mrsmp. Lovely Titanic update.

beg. Lovely heart tree finish, really like it.

Hippipal. I wouldn't be without my easy clip frame, posilock floor stand (holds the easy clip frame) and something they call a helping hand (holds the easy clip frame so the stitches don't get crushed when attaching to the posilock floor stand)
This is the frame and floor stand http://www.sewandso.co.uk/Products/Posilock-Floor-Stand__ELB-POSI.aspx and this is the helping hand http://www.sewandso.co.uk/Products/HH12---Helping-Hand__ELB-HH12.aspx
I have various sizes of both easy clip frame and helping hand and don't know how I ever managed without them! :D

Also, a small item to have in your stash but I would be lost without is a needle threader. I try to get as many stitches out of a piece of thread as I can and without a needle threader I would throw alot more away than I do now. I buy cheaply in bulk from ebay as from experience expensive ones don't last any longer than cheap ones.

A pot of thread heaven in your stash is a handy thing to have now and then. I don't use mine much when using DMC or Anchor but with cheapie threads it's helpful to keep them running smoothly through your fabric. http://www.sewandso.co.uk/Products/Thread-Heaven__THN-TH-DBW.aspx

Also I wouldn't want to be without my simple plastic re-sealable bags. When doing a project I use a small one for each colour, this keeps them clean and stops tangling with other colours. Then all the small ones go into a larger one to keep them altogether. These too were bought from ebay.

Last but definately not least.....Pilot Frixion pens. I love using these when marking my photocopied chart because if you mark the wrong bit you can rub it out and re-mark it. These pens can be quite expensive, usually £6-7 for 3 but I keep an eye out for half price offers in supermarkets.

Maisie. Love your cards, especially the button flowers.

Kez. DOT is coming along great.

Chicky. Thanks for dropping in even though it was with bad news, please stay! :)

Sweetcarer. So sorry to hear the news about your Mum x
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:

It was a DMC kit Erics Mum. I know what you mean about Michael Powell and straight lines - I've done a few big projects of his before - but I must admit it does give his designs a bit of quirkiness. Looking forward to seeing your update.

I cheat :) I rightclick on ‘quote’ on the post i want to follow up and ‘open in new tab’.

Copy and paste them into word with the reply under thencopy and paste it all into the reply tab. Also a backup then if MSE crashes.
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:
  • So sorry to hear of sweetcarer'ssad news especially as her earlier posts this year suggested she wasn't having the best start to 2014 even before this.

Thank you chicky for popping into the cafe and letting us know. I know what you mean about time spent but hopefully next time you call in it will not be as the bearer of bad news
  • kezbaby Dictionary of tea is looking wonderful It inspired me to dig out the dictionary of cakes I finished 2 years ago and take it to the framers on Saturday.

emily I think you subscribed to WOCS - the current issue came with a special offer for subscribers for 3 issues of Cross Stitch Card Shop for £3. If you would like the promotional code let me know (I haven't got it with me or I would have included it here)

maisie your cards are lovely and how great to have a stash ready for the next occasion that comes along

beg The love tree will look good in the kitchen - the colours are so bright and cheery. I know what you mean about wall space. I take down some of my pictures in December to replace them with Christmas stitchings and some of them get retired in January when the decorations come down

shelly totally agree with your comments about Thread Heaven and needle threaders

ericsmum hope you will post your latest project but here to distract you again is a progress picture of my Wedding Sampler project

Some of you may recall that I am going to replace some of the wording with the names and date so that they are in the heart instead of at the bottom. Comments were made that I should consider using a different colour thread. The date is due to be stitched in the blue/grey so I think will be ok. The names are due to be stitched in the gold which doesn't show up particularly well so I think I may change it to white (like the horseshoes).

We haven't got a great deal of free wall space in kitchen due to units and tiling but what we have is bright orange - well the light wooden cabinets and worktops and white tiling and very dark grey flooring need cheering up :D The free space is tucked in a corner too so I always try to put something bright there.

Another one agreeing with needle threaders - bought a pack with quite a few in on eB@y and they weren't that expensive and last just as long as the expensive ones.

Re Thread Heaven - I have been promising to get myself some of this to try. Is it used with all threads or just metallic and how do you use it? I begrudge getting it if it's just going to sit there but if it comes recommended well ............... :D

Loving your wedding stitch fos. We are going to a wedding later in the year and I would love to do a little stitch but I don't know how much it would be appreciated by the couple. I liked a pic someone posted recently (Maria I think) - a outline only of a couple, mainly black with a little bit of red. Think I have seen it on pinterest - will have to investigate further.

Still no stitchy purchases for 2014  Very nearly tempted with a kit in Cancer Research shop today (Sylvester and Tweety Pie in the Bath) but I then realised that the kit had been stitched and was included and just needed framing but I decided not to bother. They had a few items mainly charts and leftover threads but nothing that really caught my attention. phew

    Bye for now
