They sure do! I think it mainly went wrong when I went back to work and my DH went on tour for six mths (both Army) in the same week  No plans for that to happen this time so fingers crossed all will be well!

My idea is to stitch a wedding sampler (been in my mind for ages) and matching birth samplers for DD and new baby. The plan is to display them in a three aperture frame. I won't let myself buy them until I have finished one of my WIPs though, it's my incentive to stick to it!!
What a lovely idea. Have you any photos of your wip that you want to finish. We're anody bunch but we will also encourage you to finish it

Okay here is my first update after a week of work - I have started stitching the DMC thread collection. It was talked about by a few people on here last year. My hubby looked at it and sort of said 'what's the point in that' (although in a nice way haha) but my plan is to make it into a cushion which I can use as reference when I am planning my own designs - seeing all the colours in one place is easier that rooting through 5 plastic boxes.

This is the contents of the first box stitched up - there are 30 squares in each column and it will be 15 columns across - the second pic shows the full size of the fabric.

I also had a little surprise in the post today - the prize for having my Coaster cards printed in WOCS last month:

I just calculated it myself to get the size I wanted. I just marked the gaps for the columns ad a chart isn't even needed. I went with the thread numbers listed on sewandso because they always seem to have the most up to date lists.

It was a chart in Cross Stitch Crazy last year sometime, not sure which month because it isn't in the magazine any more to find out. You can have the chart if you like though, I won't stitch it twice.

Looking forward to hearing how you get on. Groups like this are great but meeting up with fellow stitchers face to face is wonderful

What a brilliant idea and one I would love to copy some time I think the original discussion stared because some one had stitched the shade card onto a bag which was lovely but yours will not only look great it will be very useful. After for stitching with DMC for years and years and years I know a lot of the colours by their numbers but not all of them

You must send a photo of the finished item to one of the mags

Nice surprise though the selection looks a bit too floral for your taste :D. The baby mouse design is cute
  • Hope everyone will have a nice weekend with a bit of quality stitching time.

This is the first free weekend this year and although I have other things to do besides stitching my mission is to finish the backstitch on a stitching alphabet UFO. There's a bit of a theme to my stitching so far this year - UFO is stitching alphabet, Wip is stitchers 12 days of Christmas and new project is stitching row :D

The new issue of Cross Stitch Crazy has a glossary of abbreviations including one I haven't seen before SINS = stuff I never stitch Think I may have a few of those lurking somewhere :D
