I wondered if anyone could give me some advice please. I made this from a kit years ago, it came with a metal hanger to hang it with and I completed the cross stitch but don't know how to finish it. I cut around it but it just frays and it's too wide. I don't know how to attach to the hanger either, do I just add some thread loops? Here's a pic
Also it needs a good iron, are you meant to iron it from the back?mi can't remember if you use towels when ironing or just use a gentle heat.
Thank you for any advice
I stitched The Night before Christmas from a chart but it appears it is available as a kit

Your mini banner is really cute. Yes iron it on the reverse with the stitching on a fluffy towel. You may need steam to remove the creases
As for finishing there a few different ways to do it. Will you be using a sewing machine? You could make a back by stitching right sides together and then turning Or you could stitch it to some backing fabric Red felt would be ideal as it doesn't fray. You would need to stitch around the aida onto the felt and a sewing machine would be best but you could do it hand. Ribbon loops at the top would hang it from the wire hanger You could use the narrow ribbon that you cut off tops ( used to keep them on hangers) or any fairly narrow ribbon or cord. You could also bond it to backing fabric and stitch ribbon around the edges to stop the fraying. There are lots of tutorials on YouTube and Pinterest which might help as it isn't easy explaining in words
Good luck. It's a lovely piece so well worth finishing for display this Christmas0 -
Friday has arrived
it has been a strange week so I am glad the weekend is almost here.
It has got to the time of year where I try to decide on my xmas stitching project. Still deciding. Usually I treat myself to something new but nothing has caught my fancy yet.
I hope everyone is well.0 -

This is lovely vikkilouise. Hope you manage to sort out the making up. Unfortunately I'm useless making things up without the instructions but I just knew someone would be along to offer some advice. Don't forget to let us see it made up.

Just looking at the mse flickr page and Tricksie, I love the Christmas kitty cushions, in a strange twist of fate I was going to stitch that chart for your exchange piece, however I chose the other cat chart as I felt I needed evenweave for the kitty, i'm so glad I did
We do seem to share the same tastes! You definitely need evenweave for this because there are a lot of vertical and horizontal fractional.

DH liked this so much he asked me to make three more for his daughter, sister and niece, hence this photo.

Would like to finish this before the end of the year. We are going away on New Years Day for four nights staying with relatives in Bristol so would like a nice new shiny project to take with me!Cross Stitch Cafe Member Number 44:rudolf:Cross Stitch Is For Life Not Just For Christmas :rudolf:0 -
