Just a quick note to say hello. I am still reading and loving everyone's photos but I haven't had time to post lately as I've been on holiday from work for a week and it takes me ages to post from ipad. Also, I havent had chance to get any stitching done at all, until last night, when I made a start on the snowman that m-o-s (I think) posted a link too.

Will hopwfully get chance to post and catch up properly tomorrow.

Is it the Sue Hillis snowman ? I didn't post the link but I did stitch the design a few years ago for an ornament exchange. Annoyingly I didn't take a photo belle I mailed it  But I do remember it was an enjoyable piece to stitch and I was pleased with it (as was my partner in the exchange who lived in Australia and had asked for something with a snow theme)

Looking forward to seeing your progress

Just a gentle reminder about this weekend's tasks for those of us in the exchange

Please take a photo of your finished card/ornament/coaster but don't post it yet. If you can't take a photo add a note and ask the recipient to take one.

Mail your exchange piece on either Sat (tomorrow) or Monday and then post in the Cafe to say you sent your piece. Standard first class should be ok (don't forget to check if you need a large letter stamp!) but if you prefer to send recorded that's ok It would help if you could say this in your post so your recipient will know to expect a signed for letter. It's your choice about whether to sign your card with your real name but please do include your cafe name.

When you receive your piece please post a message in the Cafe as the sender will be anxiously waiting to know it has arrived safely. Include a photo in your post if you can as everyone else wants to see the exchange pieces I'm sure

As pieces are received please upload a photo into the Cafe flickr group
http://www.flickr.com/groups/1577253@N21/pool Be prepared if you haven't looked recently - there are lots of lovely photos to admire

I think that's it other than to say that if anyone has my problems please let me know via pm before posting in the Cafe

And of course Happy Christmas :xmastree::santa2::rudolf::xmastree::xmassign:

I'm away til Tuesday, so I have posted mine this morning - hope I am not too naughty :)
  • Maria - your advent calendar is lovely.

Fos - thank you for the link re the technology kit.......well I think it's thank you I should be saying although DH might not be that happy! :rotfl:

I have finally finished my cousins children's Christmas deccies, as you will see from the names, they are very unusual and it's very difficult to find anything with their names on. I hope they will like them

Love these I see what you mean about the names

    Of course not :)

Better too early than late. I set the date so that we'd get our exchange pieces at the beginning of December, that's all. I think I got mine slightly ahead of time last year so it was my first card on display (and will be going up again this year)
  • Love these I see what you mean about the names

I did mention to my cousins that there were other letters available in the alphabet :rotfl:
  • I have posted off my Christmas exchange piece today :j
  • maria - Your advent calander is lovely. I hope to be making something similar this time next year for my LO first Xmas. I can't believe it is December in two days. Where did the year go?

MOS - Lovely personalised decorations. I hope they are appreciated.

Loving all the Xmas stuff :xmastree:and looking forward to seeing everyones exchange pieces.:)
  • Alright! Here I go with a marathon catch up reply!! I have 12 pages to catch up on !!. I will try and keep it brief lol.:rotfl:

pm2326 - I haven't used interfacing to back anything, but I do have some so may give it a try. I'm itiching to see your progress on Elvis :D

Mrs ceejay - your peacock is beautiful. It will be stunning when finished. I stitched and made up my Rudolph card a couple of weeks ago and don't remember any issues with the card.

Flat Eric - Fab bargain on your coat!! Think Im a bit late to the party to help with cooking your beef lol! Re cats and beds - your bed will still be warm when you get up making it more cosy than other spots. :D

emlovesmickey - I'm looking forward to seeing the pic of your pirate ship when its finished. I can't wait to see where you pop your tardis in Starry Night.:D

b_e_g - I'm loving the idea of chanhging your decor to suit your cross stitching lol :T:D. Lovely cards. I really enjoy these smaller projects.

JCS1 - the car rally would've upset me too...I like my sleep.:o Your pictures are lovely. abc is lovely.

firefly369 - sorry to hear about the gestational diabetes, hope you're doing ok. I'm so jealous of the JR puppy!! I grew up with a JR and love them with their wee short legs lol.

sweetcarer - your spring sampler and learning sampler are lovely and coming on great. Its amazing how much of a difference the different stitches make. I really like the effect. Hope you're feeling a bit better.

elliep - wow, that's so nice of someone offering to buy you a kit. Glad you've managed to find one that you like.

m-o-s - I'm sure your dad will love the stocking and will be able to see how much work has gone into it. It is stunning.

mrs-moneypenny - the moth chart is lovely, there is something magical about it.

Louise - you've had a real run of bad luck, haven't you. I really hope that's it over for you. Hope everything goes well with your sons biopsy results. Wow, I'm impressed that you got your names done so quickly! They're lovely!

fos - love your 50th birthday card! It's really different. Yes, it is the Sue Hillis snowman that I've started. Really lovely design. I've got a notion to only have handmade xmas decorations. I gave all mine away to family a couple of years ago and haven't bothered putting any up in recent years as its just me and the dog and hardly seems worth the effort, but I do like the idea of decs I've made myself, so this snowman pic is the first of many (they won't all be cross stitched decs).

Coxy11 - how maddening that the framer did such a bad job on your flower shop. Its really lovely now that its completely finished and you made a good job of framing it yourself. My, you've been busy with all those cards and bookmarks.:D Hope they sold well for you.

Ailsb - I'm really pleased that your news from the hospital was good. Must be a huge relief.

maria - don't blame you for crying over the soup! Your stockings and the advent calendar are lovely.

Mags - fab work! Stunning! Not sure that I could do so much black, white and grey though but its def worth the effort. Can't wait to see it finished.

Mojisola - I'm really please Design Works could help you out.

    :D

shelly - thanks for mentioning the vertical mouse. I've never heard of them but it may just be somehting I need as I suffer wrist pain too and have had 2 cortisone injections in the past which did help but didnt cure. Off to research them now :D.

    Phew!!...finally caught up lol.

I just don't seem to be getting much time to stitch at the moment. I did manage to get the Sue Hillis snowman started a few nights ago so I'm hoping to get chance to get on with that this weekend.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend and gets some stitchy time.

  • morning all

finished the nativity scene card this morning

found a little somebunny cover kit thinking of doing that on a bigger piece of adia and making nieces first christmas deccy from that

Come on then - where's the piccy. :p:D

    Morning all,

I haven't posted for some time now but I have been lurking and admiring everyone's WIPs and finishes.

A while back someone mentioned that Across Town Stitching had closed down and suggested somewhere else for DMC thread at a reasonable price. To save me trawling back through the thread, please could whoever it was re-post the link, as I need to get a few threads to finish off a current WIP?

    Thanks in advance
    Ro
