  • Just a quick note to say hello. I am still reading and loving everyone's photos but I haven't had time to post lately as I've been on holiday from work for a week and it takes me ages to post from ipad. Also, I havent had chance to get any stitching done at all, until last night, when I made a start on the snowman that m-o-s (I think) posted a link too.

Will hopwfully get chance to post and catch up properly tomorrow.

  • I've finished my Christmas exchange stitch. Yay!

    When do I photograph/post it? (So tired :( )

Have just ordered new needles, couldn't decide between gold plated or nickel plated so ordered both.

I didn't think there would be that much difference between the different types of needles but after trying the gold plated ones earlier this year I'm converted to them now :D

Your advent hanging looks lovely maria. :T

I think we photograph before we post. Then I think we are posting on Saturday 30th November/Monday 2nd December. Can't believe it's nearly time already. :)

Feel absolutely shattered tonight. When I came in around 4.45 pm I went straight upstairs and got into pjs and fluffy dressing gown. Hubby has made a lovely shepherds pie for tea - can't wait I'm starving :D

Totally get where you're coming from. I have had a rubbish snacky dinner and I plan to snuggle up in bed with Kindle. I might make it to 8pm before I doze off!

Thanks so much for suggesting this. I had emailed the company I bought the kit from but hadn't had a reply.

I emailed Design Works and, again, didn't get a reply - until today! The lovely people there have posted me a copy of the kit instructions so I now have the key and can get started - using all the right colours in the right places! (I was going to have a go at matching up the colours and the symbols but there are a lot of colours in this kit).

Again - thanks, Ali, and many, many thanks to Design Works. :j
Great result and excellent service from The Design Works. Hope you can post photos of your progress
  • Loving hearing all about your wip's and the update photos.

I too have a kindle and DH has a kindle and an ipad, he much prefers reading on the kindle though and very rarely uses his ipad for reading novels.

Last year I made my cousins children (can't work out the relationship to me) advent calendars and this year I am making them a hanging Christmas decoration, I am hoping to make it a bit of a tradition. I have now completed 2 out of 3 and have stitched their names and year date on them. I will make them into deccies later so they can hang it from the tree.

I am trying to find a 3rd design that doesn't take too much work but looks nice. Here is a picture of where I am at so far.

As for me. Not much stitching done at all in the last few days but yesterday I really fancied doing some. Got one length of thread stitched then my needle snapped at the eye!
Went through all my spare needles and even went through stash kits to look at their needles but I haven't got a spare one thin enough!
Usually stitch on 14 ct but I think this kit is 16 or 18 ct so all my needles are too fat (making too big holes in the fabric)

Had a quick look online last night and they are cheap enough, less than £2 for 10 so going to order both size 26 and 28.
So for now stitching has had to go away :(

Oh no. How frustrating. I remember years ago reading a book about the women interned by the Japanese in WW2 ( it was probably the book that inspired Tenko if anyone remembers that TV series) Anyway the point is that I still recall that the most valuable item in the prison camp was needles There is also a joke about hell for stitchers being surrounded by beautiful fabric, threads, patterns etc but no needles ........

    Hi ladies.

Maria. The advent calendar is lovely! Such a simple design but very effective.

BEG. I read so much about how gold plated needles are better to use and I actually have some size 24 here but have never used them. I wanted 20 of each size 26 & 28 so I went for 10 gold and 10 nickel of each size.
I'll try the gold ones when they arrive and see what all the hype is about :D

FOS. Yeah, it was frustrating! Can't believe that was the only needle I had of that size but then again, my kits are usually 14ct with fatter needles so I shouldn't be surprised really. Have ordered plenty now so shouldn't be stuck again.

Yesterday because I couldn't stitch I watched a film, Life of Pi. Anyone seen it? Was a strange film but I quite liked it.
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:

I've just bought the dictionary of technology kit from Abakhan in their sale. It was £17,60

Sewandso's discounted price is £21.99 so seems like a bargain :D

It's been on my wish list for ages and will be a Christmas present for me (a couple of people have asked me what I want). Price might only be valid for today
