Several 13 hours days have meant there has been no stitching. If I started now I'd only mess it up so badly, I'd spend more time unpicking

But - I promised a photo. This is *almost* all of page 8. Ignore the last row. Don't look at it :rotfl:

That's better than me. I got a Kindle - loved it. Then I graduated to an iPad - loved that even more. But - reading in bed had resulted in more than one *bonk* on the head when I fell asleep while reading.
Those things are heavy. :rotfl:
I now have an iPad mini and am getting fewer black eyes! The iPad has gone to Mum, who tends to be better at putting it down before she actually becomes comatose.0 -

Lovely Mrs m
Sweetcareer lovley work as always
Thanks maria. The 3 Strands explains why I thought it might be wool - beautiful chunky effect. Are they for your imps?
mrsmp. Finished piece looks great. Card is going to be very effective. It looks similar in style to the larger piece Louise stitched and then passed the chart on
jcs. Great progress. Love this design
magscat. Thanks for the promised update photo. I agree it's not worth stitching when tired
I still prefer reading on my Kindle although I have the Kindle app on my iPad which is very useful when I'm travelling as i only want one device. And the kindle isn't as heavy when it drops
Had some time off yesterday so had a sewing machine session One cushion finished, one stocking nearly done. Photos to follow when completed
Hope everyone has a good day0 -

Thanks so much for suggesting this. I had emailed the company I bought the kit from but hadn't had a reply.
I emailed Design Works and, again, didn't get a reply - until today! The lovely people there have posted me a copy of the kit instructions so I now have the key and can get started - using all the right colours in the right places! (I was going to have a go at matching up the colours and the symbols but there are a lot of colours in this kit).
Again - thanks, Ali, and many, many thanks to Design Works. :j0 -

afternoon all
mags cat and JSC, lovey update photos
masie. im getting a bit concerned about the book im reading, started off happy family with slightly scatty mum who was developing slight hording tendencies. (when i described her the kids and my DH thought it quite funny and said sound like someone we know) the family is now completely detached from one another - no one speaks to anyone after a major family tragedy and they end up like some sad kind of jeremy kyle family. it really quite scary!!!
brilliant book after saying all that im having trouble putting it down and should be finished it before the weeks out
hope all are wellSPC~12 ot 124

Loving hearing all about your wip's and the update photos.
I too have a kindle and DH has a kindle and an ipad, he much prefers reading on the kindle though and very rarely uses his ipad for reading novels.
Last year I made my cousins children (can't work out the relationship to me) advent calendars and this year I am making them a hanging Christmas decoration, I am hoping to make it a bit of a tradition. I have now completed 2 out of 3 and have stitched their names and year date on them. I will make them into deccies later so they can hang it from the tree.
I am trying to find a 3rd design that doesn't take too much work but looks nice. Here is a picture of where I am at so far.

They are lovely moments, it's become a tradition that I do birth samplers when they are born and then stockings for there first Xmas :-D although this is a relatively new tradition so I have done 3 for new babies this year and 2 for those who have missed out, so I have been making stockings a lot this year13 in 2013 challenge 9/130

Hi everyone,
No stitching update from me as we are busy decorating our bedroom. It used to be DS1s before we extended the house. We've only been in there 2 years with football curtains and blue, grubby walls.........:o
Bruges was fantastic - lots of 'Tena lady' moments - such a fun time had with my Sister and two friends.
Louise - so sorry to hear of your run of bad luck, but well done you at the car boot sale :j The names you have stitched are lovely and the heart framed pieces are great.
b-e-g - the poppy card is beautiful
m-o-s - your window quilt looks fabulous. I am hoping to do some quilting next year. I follow the Crafty Gemini on Fbook, she does really simple to follow tutorials.
elliep - the AOY design is lovely. I did one once of a hot air balloon with two children waving it goodbye. Can't think where that is - probably rolled up in a drawer somewhere waiting to be framed
maria - sorry to hear about the soup incident. Hopefully you didn't scald yourself. The stockings are great.
sweetcarer - the learning sampler is really coming on, I love the colours, that would go really nicely in my new bedroom
mrs m-p - love the plaque for your DD
JCS1 - the sampler is really lovely, loving the colours used, very calming.
Mags_cat - your black and white project looks stunning, but you are one brave lady
Someone was asking if my framer reduced the cost for flower shop - in short No - I (stupidly) paid up front. NEVER AGAIN :mad:Cross-stitch WIP: Haberdashery Shop Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 20/25 Currently reading Finding Hildasaay by Christian Lewis0 -
Mags_cat - great update :T
mos - lovely pics. Looking forward to seeing no. 3
DH loves his kindle - he inherited it from DS. Decided he wasn't going to like it before he tried it as he liked the feel of real books. By the time he was on his second book he loved it. Mind you he is mean - the majority of his books are free - he really begrudges paying for any. He usually ends up getting an odd tenner from one of us to spend on his kindle - I think he sets himself a challenge - to see how many paid for books he can get with his tenner. :rotfl:
Toying with the idea of getting DH a 7" tablet (just a cheapy nothing too flash) and DS says (in his opinion a 9" would be better) but that was more than I was wanting to pay. Oh well we shall see .............
Take care everyone
