  • Coffee - you're doing really well and I don't think progress is that slow. Could you ask for the HAED as a xmas pressie? :D

Mrs. MP - sounds as though you have had a lovely weekend.

Had to take DH to dentist this morning so I thought I would take my stitching with me whilst waiting for him. I didn't feel comfortable taking it into the waiting room so I decided to stay in the car. My fingers were freezing so I tried to stitch with gloves but I didn't have much success. My total stitching consisted of unpicking the row I stitched at Mums this morning while having my coffee. :o

Might try and get a little bit more done now before we have lunch. We are taking Mum out this afternoon. She's only coming because she thinks I want some things. She doesn't want to waste my time.

Still watching for the postie to see if he brings Cross Stitch Card Shop - who says i'm impatient :rotfl:

    Take care everyone

ETA - postie has just been - NO MAG - but he has brought me some Tesco vouchers (not a lot as we don't really shop there) but I did recycle some printer cartridges.

    Hello girls,

Sorry no updates this week - my mum has been quite ill with her parkinsons, so been out of my mind with worry - she has been sounding like a drunk - not good - hopefully they got to call the parkinsons nurse today and I will hear later how they got on - they live a bit away, feel awful.

Sweetcarer-sounds like you need a thimble!

I do have one but only use it when turning up jeans. Never thought to use it with the pudding.
I have been busy stitching my Christmas exchange so can't show you an update :p

I have decided on pattern and looked out the material and thread - so might make a start on it tonight.

ohhh and one of my cats has a limp (think he's just landed wrong as he'll let me touch his hip) but he's now cowering under my quilt hiding from fireworks!

Hope your wee cat is ok. Mine is a wee sook. She is very timid. Hubby put on a witches hat at halloween and she just went all big and ran to the bathroom - her safe haven - to the top of the shower door.

I am very tempted to switch the alarm clock off and hide from the world today (doze/drink tea/stitch instead) sadly I'd better not. so normality it is. :(

Oh I know that feeling - wish I could do it some days too. Hope the day got better for you.

Loving all the updates, nice to see all the chat.

    Keep well everyone

Welcome to the Cafe randm.:hello: Unfortunately I cannot offer any advice re framing as I haven't had any of my stitching professionally framed. DH seems to have a bit of a flair so I make use of his talents. ;) Hope you get something sorted soon.

Hope mum gets her health problems sorted soon. You must be really worried especially if you do not live too close. I had a missed call on my phone while I was out today and when I checked it was drs surgery and my heart sank. When I phoned them back it was Mums dr - she wants to see her re her bp/medication and a few other problems she's been having - so that's where we are off to tomorrow afternoon. I'm quite lucky as I live quite close to Mum and not working I can be around if need be. Take care of yourself too sweetcarer.

Had intended to do a bit more on exchange piece tonight but I have been out shopping with Mum (shes 86 and has lost her sight totally now) so shopping is a bit of a challenge especially when shops are so packed with xmas stuff. She did get some shopping and we have seen stuff I've managed to order online and used some discount codes so she feels as though it was a successful trip out and worth the effort. I feel quite tired now so I think I will become a couch potato for the rest of the evening. :D

    Take care everyone

  • luckycat - when I read your post re wedding dress and allotment a pic popped into my head of you up in the allotment in a beautiful wedding dress and wellies. :D Hope you had a successful weekend.

    b_e_g

:) no joy I'm afraid. Saw a dress I liked but then saw the price - so back to the drawing board. Oh well, it means more weekends out trying on dresses but less time for allotment, stitiching and sitting in the warm...

  • Hi

Just a few pics for updates, some xmas cards and some as xmas pressies (hope they don't know im on here!)

    IMG_0195_zps155d58c7.jpg

this was meant to have water underneath the grass, do you think it looks ok without?

    IMG_0194_zps49373d75.jpg

im a bit iffy about this one, the writing was hard to do and I don't think it looks v clear?

    IMG_0193_zps00e253a5.jpg

it seems no matter how much I iron them afterwards there is always the crease that it came with in the post, any other ideas?

    IMG_0191_zpscc88f5ee.jpg

is a xmas card for my gran, who loves meerkats so hope she will like this
  • lovely stitching salfordgirl

randm sorry cant help re framing as im miles away from you and the place i use has just closed down as the guy has retired off to spain. hope you find someone. is there a stitching group in your area (try library or local college, then you could perhaps pick the brains of local stitchers and see who they use near you.
hope we can be more helpful with your next query

sweet carer sorry to hear about your mum, hope things get a bit easier for her soon

  • Just a question do people generally use a professional framer?

I always seem to make do with ironing the pattern and then cutting it down to fit a frame I have bought?

It has always seemed to work so far, but not sure if using a professional framer would be better, how much do they tend to charge?

I frame my own too, I bought a custom frame for the African lions, used some thin card and laced over the back. Czar is in a argos frame for now and my other pieces were all cut to size. I didn't know about sticky backboards back then so may redo them at some point. When I've finished BD i'm treating myself to a custom frame for him and Czar. The African lions was quite large at 58cmx33cm (internal size) and cost £26 delivered.
