I can see that we have nagged you into action Lyn. Take courage and let us know how you get on.

Nuatha: The clicking sound is the hob igniters trying to light the rings all by themselves whenever we put the oven on. It has been doing it for FOUR YEARS. Many men have been to look at it, sucked their teeth and offered various explainations of why it happens. None of them have been able to stop it though. Electricians say it is a gas problem and gas people say it's the electrics. I've got used to it, to be honest, and hardly even notice it but someone was here the other day and said he knew just the man to sort it out.

    We will see.

My apologies, I'd put the fact that you'd just cleaned the cooker and the clicking together and got the wrong conclusion. Water certainly should have dried out before now.
Something will be shorting the electrics, unfortunately I can't diagnose it at this range :)
Hope the man who can, can
  • Thank you all, we have had the talk and as I suspected were not starting from the same premise and misinterpreting what we all thought was agreed. She is definately going to be in a room by the end of February and is desparate not to cause us any inconvenience and we have explained what we thought we'd agreed and she understands why. In her defence she has offered money for staying and I had previously said no as I thought it was only for a few days. So we all know where we are now and I'm very grateful for your support and input in what was a difficult situation, Bless you all, I'll sleep easier in my bed tonight and I feel the next few weeks will not be the trial I was anticipating, Love Lyn xxx.

I saw a ten tray dehydrator in the auction starting at 1p... thought my god worth a try, put my top bid in of 25 quid and pp of 10 pound, good deal..... worth a shot.. any way just looked and yes i won IT BUT, AND A BIG BUT it turns out the actual postage is 109.00 pound.:eek: I was sure it said 10 when I first Bid!!!
Is this Legal? Can they make me Pay?
    has anyone else seen This?

  • Oh no Cornishchick!

I've never seen that, but I'm only mildly experienced on bay of E. Perhaps someone else will know better. How close are you to the dehydrator? I've done a few in-person collections for items, perhaps you could offer to do that? It doesn't address the issue of if they changed the postage or not, but is worth a shot if it is a possibility. Otherwise, if you can't get them to budge on postage, it is possible to back out of a sale if you have a good explanation although I know it reflects on your ratings etc.

I hope someone else has a better suggestion!

Very glad everything is clear Mrs. LW.

Cornish you can usually check revisions of listings - or contact ebay customer service they will check for you.
Is it anywhere one of us could collect then post on for reasonable postage?

Racing through will post properly later:)

Cornishchick, can I suggest that that you ask on the ebay board.

  • Morning Toughies, just want to say thanks again for giving me the strength to tackle my dilemma yesterday, you are pretty amazing people and the strength I drew from your collective support and advice is so very much appreciated. We have a completely different atmosphere in the house now, my house guest has gone off smiling this morning and we feel like a heavy weight has been lifted from our shoulders. You're good people but best of all you're MY good people and each and every one of you has made a differenct to my life, bless you all, it's good to know you, Love and hugs, Lyn xxx.

Cornish I think it's quite a common trick for items starting so low to have a huge postage price. You can retract your bid and ask for the item to be resisted, you certinaly don't have to pay.

I'm feeling slightly wobbly after yesterday's sickness bug, think a day on the sofa doing nothing is on the cards. Quite an extreme way to lose just over half a stone!!
