We've just had the most amazing hailstorm, DH was at the tip and said it really really hurt. There is still a thick layer of hail on the garden and cars were stopped at the side of the road - DH said out anti-skid warning light came on 3 times on the way back and it's only round a couple of corners. And now it's sunny again!0

FUDDLE if you want to have something nutritious and ready to go in the fridge buy yourself an extra half dozen eggs next time you shop and a pack of cheap ham and make yourself a crustless quiche. Just whisk up the eggs with a little milk and some seasoning and dice or shred the ham them put it all into an ovenproof dish and cover it with grated cheese and cook it in the oven when you have it on for something else until the egg is set and the cheese is golden brown. Leave it to get completley cold and it will keep all week in the fridge ready to be cut into chunks or slices to have with your salad sandwich. Good and easy way of making sure you actually get some protein with your snacks. It travels quite will once it's cold and will cost you not too much money. Look after yourself or it won't only be Monnagran who comes to make sure you do!!! Love Lyn xxx.0

MrsL, I love shop bought quiche, but when I make my own it tastes very eggy. Is there a way around that?0

Hard boiled eggs are great to take as a high-protein snack. I know more than one person who frequently has one lurking at the bottom of their handbag in case they need a snack at work...0

Happy weekend all - been another mad busy week here at chez stilty! Packed down and frozen all my Westin Gourmet meat order that came yesterday afternoon - I keep an eye on their emails and get an order when they have good offers on the stuff we use - it's such tasty meat and I dread to think what I'd have spent in the supermarket for inferior stuff - now I have at least 6 weeks worth (and could make it last 10 if I needed to be super frugal) for £60 - so feeling comfortably happy about the state of my stores now.
We're off to the L*goland discovery centre at Manchester tomorrow - going to pick up the kids' annual passes (used the family fund days out grant to get them in their Jan sale) and carer passes for me and DH so that's going to be a year of great days out!! Not quite sure DD deserves it though as she's been a right little so and so about going to bed for the last couple of weeks - still got DS downstairs now as he wouldn't go to sleep and got himself totally distressed as DD wasn't in her bed and now she's gone down he's managed to wake himself up completely. t least he'll sleep in the car tomorrow to catch up - but not impressed!!
This mornings post brought a couple more appointments to add to the children's long list - they always seem to come in 'lumps' with loads all at once then a little rest before the next lot.
Sorry if I 've missed anyone's news or tribulations, I have been reading but it's been a mad week and I'd forget my own name if it had any more syllables!! Do I'll just dispense some general hugs and best wishes if that's ok with you all - Take care - H X0 -
Intended to spend all day cooking today but what with unexpected visitors and callers and about a thousand phone calls to answer (or it seemed like that), we didn't even get our lunch until 4.00pm. Still have managed to make 2 large bread puddings, 2 bowls of fruit set in jelly and tomorrow I will make a load of Chocolate Concrete which should just about do iy.
Suddenly realised that this next week is magazine week and I am out all Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Thursday afternoon and all day Saturday. I can see that it will be the night shift again. Sigh............
Think I'll get a bit of sleep in while I can.

Stiltwalker - leave plenty of time for picking up the passes, we bought ours and collected from sealife but the passes took ages to get printed etc
We are visiting sealife and lego manchester tomorrow - so you may see us whizzing past chasing DS9 at 120mph0 -
Cheers kidcat was thinking that might be the case!
Look for the small person in the bright red walker and say hi on your way past!0 -
Enjoy legoland stilty and kidcat!!!
We didn't bother going out today, instead we scoffed baked potatoes watched a bit of top gear. After that I potted about the house trying to get, the washing dried.
Finally got through the mountain of bedding, ds2 has had "accidents" all week do couldnt keep up with it all. But we all have clean bedding so chuffed. I like the little things.
Oh fuddle another one is potato salad, its boiled potatoe mixed with thinly sliced onions, salt and pepper and a few spoons of malt vinegar. once the potatoes are drained and still hot, mix the ingredients together and serve.
Its delicious serve hot or cold.
I mix cous cous with cucumber tomatoes and seasoning. The juice off the salad salad tastes lovely.0
