  • Morning all,

Such talented posters! I can't crochet or knit. My grandmother is the queen of crochet and she did try to teach me, but it is hard to learn when you have a grandma who can and will make anything and everything.:D My mum can crochet, although she generally commissions my grandmother to do whatever it is for her as GM is better and faster. It also keeps her out of trouble.

Its been crazy here with job applications for OH alongside a school trip and a parent's evening this week, a friend going through a very tough time and my work on full speed. I think I'm a day or so behind in my work, but I'm working furiously to catch up. Trip to Bath this weekend so I can't work over the weekend but perhaps I'll come back refreshed and work even better.

Sorry to hear about the virus Princess! I hope you're feeling better soon.

Right, time for me to get started.

Hugs to any and all who need them!

Morning toughies, am racing through on my usual morning rush.

sending hugs all round and wishes for a lovely weekend too.

I am very relieved its Friday, its been a week of constant knocks and I am feeling it today. The group I resigned from has refused to accept my resignation as I didnt go in to their meeting and actually hand it to them. The letter written to the head and the personal emails to all the officers are being disregarded, their reason for doing this is simple, they have not dealt with it in the subsequent meetings and I have contacted the bank to have myself removed from the account, The bank are now asking questions why they have not acted earlier and as a charity they are being looked at. Thankfully I have the stuff as proof and have sent copies to the bank to prove my case.
It seems they were hoping to carry on until after the AGM and not act on my resignation.

Am looking forward to having a coffee and chat with a friend this morning she has not been involved in any of this so we can switch off as it were.

Morning all, Just been for the dreaded check up at the dentist. I need to have my crown re newed, its over 5 years since I damaged it and there is a hairline crack in the porcelain. Total cost £240!!!! and that is nhs, private is over £500. And that is one tooth.
Took mum her paper, she had a shower and was feeling better. I took her a few holiday brochures to flick through, she said she had found a couple of nice holidays in there. It was a nice surprise to see her looking forward to something.

Had an eventful night at work, we have someone who is barred for being aggressive and spitting at people and things. He is also banned by the police for begging as he is very aggressive to people, maybe its the drugs? He entered my work place and was asking people again so we had to call the police. Not something you want to do, but I truly believe he needs help. For being in his early 30's he has definatly aged.

I have one spare voucher that's all I could find at work, so if anyone can definatley use it please let me know. I will post tomorrow. I have a few of the % ones too. PM please.

    Take care all x

Has anybody any tips on dealing with really bad neighbours? My daughter just moved into a new house and has got bad people next door. Noise drinking partying and now her tyres been slashed because she complained to the HA. Apparently these folk have been evicted umpteen times and moved on for drug dealing and stealing. The RV wants to go down and kick their door in and haul them out and threaten them lol but I stopped him. Maybe that worked in the old days but I don't think it would work with this lot,

Keep a log, contact the Police re the slashed tyres, keep informing the HA and if the noise from the party etc is post 23.00 hours contact the local authority and they can provide a noise meter I believe (which is more evidence re getting something done)
    Must use my stash up!

Mar, my sympathies re your daughter's awful (thats's putting it very very politely) neighbours. Our previous ones run a drug den and brothel and had very loud music any time of day or night. It was a HA property supposedly meant to house a family.

We contacted the HA, the police and environmental health. They told us to keep a log of incidents (some provided forms) and re the noise to phone EH every single time it happened. I also knocked on the neighbours the other side (who were not the best of neighbours either but not having loud parties etc) and gritted my teeth to speak to them. They were equally fed up and we agreed to compare notes so that our logs were as full and accurate as possible.

I also contacted crimestoppers anonymously and said they were growing drugs (as they were). I took photos of the cannabis plants from our garden in case anyone asked for proof (no-one did.) We know they were doing worse stuff as could see through kitchen window but too dodgy to photograph.

Initially DH tried a couple of times knocking and asking reasonably for them to keep the noise down. Then next time a couple of bruisers answered the door and threatened him so he stopped knocking and we went down the reporting route. The people were known to police and heard on grapevine they were known for violence.

Personally I would resist all temptation to get directly involved but go down the reporting/logging route and be real nuisance about it. We asked very specifically to remain anonymous and we had no reprisals. I am surprised your DD's HA said who reported the neighbours - I would complain about that.

Also get your daughter to report the slashed tyres and lay it on as thick as possible that she feels very scared and threatened (even if she doesn't). Things may get worse before better and if the neighbours know they have been reported the cat's out of the bag anyway. The more pressure your DD and others can put on the authorities, the faster they will be kicked out. If they are committing crimes the police will have them and housing will kick them out but its likely to take a while.

In the meantime can your daughter park elsewhere and in different places. Make sure she is a little more careful with things like answering the door, leaving valuables on display, locking up but don't overdo as she will feel worse.

Ours got raided by the police in the early hours one day and we never saw them again. Its awful that they will be living next to some other poor household and the pattern will continue. I wish they would put all those kind of people on an island with no escape and leave the majority of good folk in peace.

sorry for the long ramble, it was a very stressful and worrying time for us and your DD will need as much support as possible til those ********** people leave. Only my experiences recounted so feel free to ignore what I have said.

Nothing worse than bad neighbours, I have the t shirt in my wardrobe from years ago. You are right Mar, the old ways sadly dont work with these people - I am trying not to swear  Its a long process but if they already know what they are like you might get faster results. Tell her to complain to anyone that will listen, police, housing and Mp xxx

Mar: Ginny had good idea about contacting MP. I wonder if threatening to go to the local papers would hurry up matters??? Anything is worth a try.

There is also advice on websites like CAB on how to handle the situation. Maybe a well written letter from a solicitor?

We had a horrible neighbour, I may have mentioned it on here. He smashed our fence panels, played loud music and grew cannabis. Lets say, he got his rewards. I use to hoover everyday at 7am, and generally bang around. If I wanted music on, I played it. I also reported the plants, was raided one weekend and then told the MP who got him evicted by the council. If they are in there 1st year of tenancy then they can evict them within 4 weeks. We haven't seen our old neighbours since, also to add if they are evicted for growing cannabis or other illicit reasons the council have no obligation to re house them now as they are intentionally making themselves homeless.
