    Hello everyone :)

I'm sorry for not posting for a while but my depression has been kicking my bottom in a not very pleasant way. I'm hoping that the sunshine will last and that I will be able to get out in it.

Possession I'm so sorry that you are going through this. Just remember that we are all behind you rolling pins at the ready xxxx

kidcat I hope your teeth/mouth have started behaving ((((hugs)))))

ginnyknit I hope your DH is feeling better today.

gailey I'm sure that the right house it out there for you. I know it is easier said than done, but please try not to worry too much. You don't have to allow any viewings or tradesmen into the house, so make it clear to the agents that they aren't welcome. The best of luck xxxxxxxxx

Well I have been busy with work/volunteering and with the numerous birthdays that this time of year seems to bring. DS2 was 15 on the 3rd and DS1 was 18 on the 14th. How on Earth did that happen? I'm not grown up enough to have an 18 year old son. DS1 got his traditional pile of mince pies instead of a birthday cake. I still have the pastry in the fridge to make another 2 dozen so must try and get that done today.

The credit cards bills for Christmas and birthdays and things breaking down have come in, so time to tighten our belts and deal with those. The washing machine breaking down and having to go and buy a new one added somewhat to the total.
Having three foodies and 4 big appetites in the house isn't helping with the grocery bills, but I'm doing my best. DH wants me to experiment and cook different things as he says that my cooking the same things all the time and being such a good cook is a waste. it's just a pity that DS1 won't eat most of them and DH and DS2 wants me to cook stuff with expensive ingredients.

The laundry is getting done, everyone is being fed and I'm getting to work and back, even if it is proving a struggle at times at the moment. I'm seeing my therapist next week so might see if increasing my meds would help. I'm tired of being tired if that makes sense.

    Muck love to everyone xxxx

SDG have you been investigated for other stuff like anaemia in case the tiredness has a different cause? I do hope you can start feeling better, this has been a long hard time for you.
Lyn you've made me really fancy falafel burgers now. I have a few tins of chickpeas I think so might make some, I think the children would eat them now. Shall send DH for some burger buns on the way to school.

Kidcat any news on your teeth? Hope they aren't hurting you too much.

I have received an email from my boss and it looks as if they aren't pursuing anything, so I can breathe easier. It will never be the cosy job is was for me before, and I may well keep my eyes open for something else, but it doesn't seem as if I'm in immediate danger.

Possession, I'm so glad you have the immediate pressure on you lifted.

Could you (or Lyn) post your recipe for falafel burgers? I could see them being appreciated in our house!

  • Surely can Broomstick, this was not from a book but what I thought might go into falafel burgers and they were lovely, was going to serve them in buns tomorrow but we both fancied them today.

    Falafel Burgers

1 tin of chick peas drained and rinsed(450ish grams)
2 slices of bread from a large loaf (I used wholemeal)
1 large red onion peeled and cut up
a good pinch of chilli powder
    1 heaped teaspoon ground cumin
    1 heaped teaspoon ground coriander
    1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon dried coriander leaf (optional)
    1 clove garlic, peeled
    olive oil
    lemon juice
salt and fresh ground black pepper

Put everything except the oil and lemon juice into a food processor and whiz until it forms an evenly ground paste. Add in a little olive oil and as much lemon juice as you need to form a ball of dough. Spread onto a plate and pop into the fridge for half an hour. Make breadcrumbs from 1 more slice of bread and put onto a plate. Make burgers the size you like from the chickpea paste (I made 4 large ones) then just coat them with the fresh breadcrumbs, I found they stuck well, put the coated burgers onto an oiled baking sheet and spray with an oil spray. Pop them back into the fridge until you want to use them. Pre heat the oven (180/200 fan - 200/220C conventional oven) and cook the burgers for 30 minutes turning them over half way through.. I served ours with basmati rice and mixed salad but they'd be nice in buns too. Hope you like them, Lyn xxx

POSESSION that's really good news, I'm pleased for you lovie!!! xxx.

Lyn thank you for posting your recipe. I have a tin of chickpeas lurking and some bread that needs using so it couldn't have come at a better time.

Possession glad things have calmed down at work for you, nothing worse than worrying and having to go in and face it all. I do hope you find another job. Hopefully now the stress there has lifted a little you will feel better and sleep as Im sure you havent been.

We managed a short shopping trip, well a bit of Oh sitting in the car while I ran in shops. Went to see Smileyt and her dog Bruno, she is doing well and keeping busy. On the way back I saw some onions at an Asian grocers for £1.99 a sack so ran in and bought them, the sugar was 69p a bag so grabbed a couple of those too. Then we parked in Stockport to get OH's phone from the repair shop and I ran in M&S while he sorted the phone. I got yoga pants for myself £0 used a swagbucks voucher :j Then went in a Cs and got a long sleeved t shirt for £1.30 so thats my new house wear sorted. Picked up 2 rolls of chalkboard sticky back plastic for £1.99 in the works so next Christmas will make lots of chalkboard gifts. Last stop took him in the library and ran on the market for a big piece of pork £6.99 as Im mad on Jamie Oliver and have taped his money saving programmes so want to make some dishes from it.

Wow Ginny. - sounds like an impressive haul there.

SDG - I hope your black dog gives you a break, come chat to us more, a problem shared and all that.

Think I might need to resort to sleeping tablets tonight (herbal) as I've now gone beyond tired. Did an easy dinner, egg and chips as DDs help run youth club in the village on Thursday's. We invested in an actifry last week and it's fab. The most amazing chips and less than a 1/3 of the power of having e oven on for our normal HM oven ones. Yummy and MS at the same time ;)

I've lit one of my Christmas candles so the house smells lovely (even if it doesn't look it, seriously my floors are a disgrace) and I'm going to while away the evening with some crochet, a lap quilt and a kitten or two.

Pooky ((hugs)) hope you can sleep tonight.

I am exhausted and not sleeping well, but mainly as my tablets are supposed to be taken 6 hours apart even during the night, and I need to eat with them, I find that its better not to go sleep until after taking it as I would struggle to wake and eat in the early hours.
