    Can I ask a few quick Q's?

How can I get rid of the limescale in my kettle?

Spring greens. Can I cook them in any other way than a veg accompaniment?

Limescale - add some lemon juice or vinegar, boil the kettle, let it cool and hopefully that will have got rid of the most of it! (rinse the kettle a couple of times though, firstly to make sure you have all the dislodged bits out and secondly to get rid of the lemon/vinegar taste )

Spring greens, cracking in a stir fry, or shredded into Minestrone soup
    Must use my stash up!
  • Limescale, you can get a purpose made descaler for very little money from somewhere like Robert Dyas/a hardware shop and you can get a little gadget like a small ball of metal wool to keep in the kettle to collect limescale rather than having it on the walls of the kettle.

Spring greens shredded very finely and deep fried are chinese crispy fried seaweed, cooked spring greens with mashed potato make a very nice bubble and squeak and you can substitute spring greens for kale in any of the robust winter recipes that go really well with bacon or sausages, so creamed spring greens with sausages would be a whole meal in itself. Spring greens cooked in the stock from cooking a gammon/bacon joint are really nice too served with the sliced meat.

Hope you haven't been working too hard and can catch your breath during this week pet, Happy New year to you and your lovely little family, I wish you all the very best things that you'd like to happen for 2014, Lyn xxx.

AAARRRGGGG!!!!! Mrs LW, you mentioned the K word. Fingers in ears Mar.

Mar: The party will be a riot but I'm not sure I'm going to make it. My sore throat has morphed into aching joints and an annoying tickly cough. I've spent the afternoon in bed hoping that would do the trick but I still feel like I've been steamrollered. I'll have a shower in a minute and dose myself up and we'll see.

Princess: what a rotten thing for your family to cope with. With all they've had to contend with this year you'll be glad to see the back of it. Here's hoping that 2014 is all you've dreamed of.

Pinkdebs: if we all send you our excess weight you'll be in the Guiness book of records for all the wrong reasons.

Done nothing today except feel sorry for myself so I'll drag my miserable carcass off to the shower.

Whatever you are doing or not doing tonight my prayer is that 2014 will be better for all of us, because (all together now) WE'RE WORTH IT.

Happy New Year to all the toughies, too, however you welcome it in! :j. Can I add my thanks to you all as well, for all the support you offer to everyone who pops in, whether regulars or occasional visitors? As Lyn says, you've added a lot to my life this year, and I look forward to more of the same in 2014! :T

As I am half Scottish, we will be up at least long enough to bring in the coal (or rather DS will, as he's a dark haired bloke!), watch a fillum or two, few nibbles and a wee dram. Planning a family walk in the morning, if the weather gods smile on us.

    Peace to you all!

    A xo

Just wanted to wish you all a very Happy New Year - in one way or another it is going to be an eventful one for many of you!

I hope that whatever you wish for 2014 comes to pass, and that we have a peaceful, supportive thread for everyone who needs it!

We know how to party, after a lovely hour or so in the spa (free with the room, so we will get another go tomorrow!) and venturing out to eat, we were so knackered we have come back to the hotel and are just settling down to watch Christmas Tudor Farm :rotfl:.

Will crack some fizz and toast you all at 12, if we keep awake that long!
