Can I ask - I took chicken out of the freezer yesterday morning, do I have to cook it tonight or can I wait until tomorrow? Been in the fridge.

Is it fully defrosted ? The chickens I put in the fridge to defrost seem to take ages.

Yes it's miserable weather here too, and still gusty, but the good news is my neighbour has just popped round and told me that she is responsible for the fencing that came loose just before Christmas and will be replacing it. Result! Other than that we are plugging away, we've all been ill which is why I haven't been on here much. I took down some of the xmas decorations today as I can't stand them too long after the big day although I love them beforehand. I have fallen badly behind with shopping/meal planning though and badly need to get a hold of it all before the budget is blown. Not that there is a budget!
DH has a job interview on the 7th, so fingers crossed for that one.

I like to get back to normal fairly quickly too, I like plans and routines or I am all out of whack. Christmas has a happy knack or wreaking havoc on my boring organised..ish self.

Popped to Waitrose tonight as was given a £20 John Lewis voucher for Christmas, and got too many bargains to mention, not least of which were 4 brussels sprouts stalks for 10p each! (Before you think I'm mad, they are for all the rabbits!) We treated ourselves to cheese fondue since it was a pressy, and the baguettes were only 19p too so it even felt quite frugal.

    Evening All!

Chicken should be fine Mar - in fridge from frozen for three days is ok, whether whole or bits (unless you had it hanging about before you froze it!). But get it cooked tomorrow!

We are off to Cardiff for NYE - we have treated ourselve to a nice hotel with a lovely spa. Not sure what we will do, will go out to eat somewhere cheap on the Bay, and hope to see the fireworks, but the weather forecast is awful for the night and next day. We will take some fizz and nibbles/choccies from home, so if we have to stay in, will hunker down with Jools .
Back to the 5:2 fasting today - sitting here with all the Christmas sweeties on the table and I have not had one! Cast iron will needed though, and will have some tomorrow :o. I am going to add an extra day into the 5:2, not fasting, but a day when I keep to 1000 cals for the day, hoping that I can shift a bit more weight this year. Although my whites are now nice and loose, I would really like to be needing a smaller set :D.

Well done all the losers here :T, we all have different methods, but as long as they work for you, it's all good.

Hope all is well, CC and Sheila, and all those dealing with families. Mum died three years ago today, so has been in my thoughts.

    Hi all.

The Rev has spent half an hour with my computer and beaten it into submission, so I'm back.

My sore throat progressed into complete loss of voice yesterday. It has come back slowly today - much to the Rev's disappointment - but I really haven't felt like eating at all which has got my sensible eating routine off to a splendid start. It's an ill wind................

The Rev met our favourite Roman Catholic priest in the town today who asked what we did to welcome in the New Year. She told him that she went to bed early and watched a DVD and I went to bed much later and read. Apparently he leapt about in horror and said that it was disgusting and we were to come to him to join in his big family party. I've met his Mum and she is lovely so it should be a good evening. Honestly, the Catholics and the Methodists are a force to be reckoned with and when they get together anything could, and usually does, happen. So I'm looking forward to a riotous New Year.

Better get some sleep in now.

After tomorrow Christmas is officially over chez nous. Thank Goodness.

monna hope you and the rev have a lovely time this evening. We shall be seeing the New Year in at home - possibly fast asleep as I am full of cold:(

MrsC have a great time in Cardiff, hope the weather will be kind to you.

Fairly quiet day planned today, waiting to drop dd16 at her friend's on my way to work. Then hoping to fit in a trip to the [STRIKE]tip[/STRIKE] recycling centre later as we have bags and bags of carefully sorted cardboard and plastic cluttering up the garage. We have a four week gap between collections over Christmas and I can't stand climbing over everything for another week.

Food will be leftovers/freezer bits and pieces as I want to use up as much stuff as possible and not be tempted into buying more. Saying that, must get up to Lidly this week as there are quite a few decent offers on stuff we use. I really am buying everything I can from there or Aldi or the local greengrocer and avoid the big SMs as far as possible. I don't buy processed food or ready meals, but now we've tried a lot of the Lidl/Aldi basics, I've realised there's no point paying silly prices for the same thing elsewhere.

Weather fairly calm here which is very welcome after all the rain, but more to come.
  • Morning all.

Very busy day here today. I’m supporting my mum to her appeal today. So it will either be a great new year or a very rubbish end to a awful year.

We also had some bad news yesterday. A family member on OH side has past away. Everyone is in complete shock as she only went on to hospital for something classed as minor. So, Some very broken people right now.

What’s the saying, It never rains but pours? It really is here atm.
Roll on 2014 hopefully it will be a great year and better for many of you!

So I looked at changing our electric supplier and it seems to be that we have the cheapest rate already. Surely this isn’t right? More investigating needed I feel. We have a small one bedroom home and pay £20+ a week on prepayment meters. Its also an electric only property however, We don’t use the electric heating at all. So not sure whether there is room to make cut backs.? Maybe I need a smart meter thingy to find out what is hogging the credit each week!

I was also told about a service on Lloyds banking called “save the change” which was set up yesterday and already we have £1.39p in our savings. it’s a start. What with debts, Wedding, Work expense, every penny is very much needed.

Next thing we’re looking at, Is our outgoings. Two things are getting to me the most.
Our internet, home phone & broadband package. And our food shopping. Both of them seem to be rocketing and its just something that simply needs cutting back.

Enough of my nattering. Better start getting ready. Will come back later all. Have a lovely day and stay safe in this awful weather xx
    Future goals:
    Become debt free.
    Beat Depression.
    Be happy & healthy
  • PX87 sorry to hear of your OHs relative passing away so suddenly, he's (and you too!) had such a lot to cope with over the last 12 months, I hope that the new year will bring a better spell of peace in both your lives, Hugs and Love Lyn xxx.

So, I've joined "my Fitness Pal" - 8 thornton's, a cappuccino and a small beer soon add up don't they :o I was eating the thornton's even though I didn't really want them, too.:(

I am going back to Yoga as my day off changes this semester, and I can. I am going to swim once a week and walk more too.

My Motto for this year is "procrastination is the thief of time" - so on that note, I am going to do an hours marking.

    <<hugs>> Princess, what a shock :(

I hate New Year with a passion - all that forced jollity. We are having a quiet one at home, I hope the fireworks don't wake me up, and will be smug with my clear head in the morning :D

I do, however, wish everyone a "Happy New Year"
I wanna be in the room where it happens
