Morning everyone. I've been struck down with chest infection plus hacking bad cough. Been on phone to GP who has prescribed the antibiotics I need - I am susceptible to bronchitis - and friend will pick them up for me as cannot face going out in cold and wind.
Cheapskate I have been receiving counselling for a couple of months now and I have to say that I am slowly starting to feel better about myself - much more positive - and the world. It is definitely worth sticking with, although, like lobbyludd, I ended up in tears for the first few weeks. However I now definitely feel that I can see a way ahead of me.:)
lobby how awful to feel that way. I'm glad the counselling helped you find new strength.
Princessx I am pleased you feel able to look at a few things in a positive way. You are very brave to face your fear and facing the dentist. I have a friend who just cannot do this - any time she gets into a dentists she is physically sick.
How worrying maryb to be so close to that theatre accident. I would have been terrified. According to the news reports this morning there are some serious injuries but no deaths so far. Like you, my thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. How awful to have a night out end in such a manner.
mar, thanks for the info on spiritual healing. Sounds so lovely. I will try and remember it for my 'down' times.
Corninsh, hope your DH has had no after effects from catching the growth.
Right, am going to have more medicinal liguid and cough medicine!:eek:Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -
DD1 who teaches took a coachload of the older youngsters from school to London yesterday, they had a day in Museums and Art Galleries and a flight on the London Eye at 4.30 and a meal at a restaurant before coming back on the coach to the school. They were just leaving when it happened and couldn't understand the number of blue lights and emergency vehicles going into London in the other direction. It took them 1 and a half hours to cover a mile and a quarter as the roads were chaotic as you would expect with something of that magnitude. They managed to make it back by 10.30 only a quarter of an hour late despite having to drive through floods, thunderstorms and torrential rainfalls on thier way back. This morning she told me she'd had the option of a block booking for the entire party in that theatre last night, oh eck! thank any deity you want to that they decided it would be too late a return if they took it up and she'd declined it a few days before!!! Good Afternoon

What a day.
I fixed laptop but internet connection is running like a bag of hammers.
I washed bedding but then realised I havent a tumble dryer yet so its (apostrophe and at sign dont work, sorry for poor grammar) adorning the bannisters.
The vinegar worked on the limescale
It was sat on it overnight and no more this morning. Very happy. Vinegar wins again. I will get the harpic max though as theres marks down the pan too.
I saw eldest at her church Cristingle celebration. I really enjoyed it. All the children walked out with lit candles. Ive never seen that in the North East before. Certainly Health and Safety issue where I worked but went swimmingly.
Weve got Carols by candlelight this evening so taking the Christingle candle to that too. Ill judge whether its safe enough to get the candle out when were there.
Trying to get Michael Buble Christmas songs going as Im sat at the camping table with my candle going to try to jee me up. Tired this afternoon.0 -
Hello everyone
Feeling a mixture of happy, sad, excited and tired all rolled into one with the Christmas preps and other stuff last couple of days.
GP appointment went well, saw the 'other' GP who I can't usually get an appointment with and he is easy to talk to. My regular GP is very hard work which is not helpful if you have depression. We discussed stuff, I explained struggling with family issues this time of year, not only Xmas but also DH and I have birthdays in Jan and Feb plus the winter season in itself. We agreed to double my AD dose and I have forms to fill in for some counselling. Felt better after the appointment instead of bursting into tears as I have been doing.
The family have been in contact in various ways today. Sister emailed to ask if she could phone boys on Xmas day, ditto MIL - I really don't want our day spoiled but feel boys should have contact so think I will suggest Boxing Day instead. SIL (the one of we-don't-want-your- books-gate) has emailed asking if we are still going over for Xmas. DH will have to deal with that one. Other SIL has sent Xmas card (no pressie for boys this year, same as DS7's birthday) with a funny comment in it - not funny ha ha either. Just feel like telling the lot of them to BOGOFF!
Getting there with Xmas, still some food to buy tomorrow, mainly fresh fruit and veg and a large free range chicken (we voted free range chicken over non free-range turkey crown). Still have most of wrapping for boys and couple of little gifts for DH and some friends to do. Then its just a general clean and tidy (I say 'just' it will be a mammoth task) and promised to do various Christmassy things with the kids.
My friend who lost her mum in the summer lost her FIL this week so I have been spending time with her and our little group of friends as well. Took said friend to sans -bugs this morning and we had a sneaky coffee and shared a sandwich and cake. We went to a pub for lunch yesterday with our group of friends which was great (and my only festive social event really) and today saw the same friends plus our assorted children after school at one friend's house. Children finished early today after school party (which DS7 was dreading and didn't enjoy much - too loud and overwhelming). Yesterday a visiting theatre group performed a panto at school.
I am shattered, sitting here with bags and boxes of shopping everywhere, lots of dishes and laundry in various states (not to mention 2 overflowing baskets upstairs). Just going to bung supermarche pizzas in oven soon then better sort out the chaos.

SQ well done at the GPs love, glad you could talk things through with the nicer one and come to some sensible and helpful decisions and set the wheels in motion for the future, glad you felt OK afterwards too, good stuff kid!!!
Families are a whole different ball game aren't they? Let your dear OH deal with them and just you get on with organising and having a lovely cosy warm and loving little family christmas with your lovely family, make the day special to the four of you and let the world go hang for a couple of days, it will do you all good!!!
I'm sad for your friend losing her FIL in such a short space aftr her mum passed away, thank goodness there is you and your lovely supportive group of friends to help her cope, you're good people. Don't try to sort the house out all in one bite this evening, you've had quite a day, put your shopping away and fold up the clean washing and put it somewhere you can't see it. Get the next lot set up in the machine and do it in the morning. It's more important to catch up on yourself than to have a show home, make tea and relax the housework is very obliging, it will wait until tomorrow, Love and Hugs Lyn xxx.0 -
AOT hubby had the mac nurse around this morning , she arranged for the community nurse to visit this afternoon so now have a supply of super sized foam plasters and stuff to clean the area. She checked i am happy to do it but will call in after Christmas to check on it. But no extra problems arose due to the cupboard door incident.
Re councilling, I've been to a few sessions over the years for different reasons. Always feel worse when going in but loads better after, it's a safe place to off load, not be judged for your thoughts and feelings and the space to work through them.
Well the wind had won it's fight with our garden fence..its laying down in defeat.
Brought the tree in side at last, letting it drip on them kitchen floor and hope to put it up tomorrow. Still have so much to do, presents not wrapped, Dec's not up.. so time for a list,,, must only have coffee on it every items....today's mood is brought to you by coffee, lack of sleep and idiots.
Living on my memories, making new ones.

Thank you for the positive and supportive words about counselling, and, mar, I so love your suggestion. I will see the counsellor on Monday, then not until the New Year. I think I'm in it for the long haul, but she said she won't simply give me 10 sessions then it's goodbye, she'll stick with me however long it takes, which was a welcome surprise.
I heard part of a phone in on the radio today, about people getting into debt over Christmas, or ways they didn't, but one caller was very moving. He has terminal cancer, won't see another Christmas, and his comments were quite stark, but true, and trimmed away all the garbage that so many people insulate themselves with at this time of year. Have to say I sat in the car in tears.
Fuddle, sent you a text, hope your phone's not ill like your t'interweb!
Hugs to those with family or health issues, keep the faith, people.

Sometimes I dislike Christmas.
You have to deal with people you are sadly related to, that really you wouldn't mind if they moved to another continent with no mobile signal.0 -
that is lovely Mar, will definitely try that, thank you.
indeed BB!!:AA/give up smoking (done)

Goodness me. It's tomorrow already and I have just finished making the house acceptable to the next would be tenants. Well on the outside anyway. Conversations go like his at the moment.
"Where did you put the crumpets?"
"In the saucepan cupboard."
Any chance of remembering where clean teatowels are?"
"On top of the flower vases."
"Of course. Why didn't I think of that?"
Life is going to be so exciting for the next few days.
Only popped in to turn the computer off.
